Not sure it’s related, but a friend and I had a good long look at a green heron
working the edges of the lagoon in Stewart Park, last Wednesday morning between
9 & 10 AM. As it worked its way around counterclockwise from the east side, it
flew a few feet to perch on a log quite close to where
I was strolling towards Lowes from Wegmans Friday morning and there is
a separate lagoon I believe next to the inlet that goes behind Wegmans and
startled what I thought at first was a green heron but then it seemed a bit
bigger. It flew up to a tree and hid, emitting an unlikely croak. I
A jogger just flushed the American Bittern from the Swan Pen at Stewart Park.
The bittern flew east over the willows along the parking lot and then out of
sight.

after chasing for about three years.

As of about 6:00 PM the Bittern was near the entrance of CLO and on the
side nearest the road. I did get one good photo as the Bittern took off
for higher weeds.
