2012-06-12 Thread Linda Orkin
Yes Meena, thanks so much for posting. It was a lovely evening made special
by the people in attendance, the beautiful birds and great food. Perfect
weather with a breeze and a pink sunset on sparkling water. We were so
excited to have a successful Orchard Oriole quest. Much gratitude to all
for coming.

Best

Hi all,
We had great CBC dish to pass dinner with great turnout and tasty food! After
the dinner, we went for a walk in search of Orchard Orioles. We were rewarded
by wonderful sights of the orioles, especially those who had patience to wait
longer got to see them up fairly close for long time. I think Paul Anderson
saw them feeding a young. We also had at least four Baltimore Orioles,
Yellow-bellied Sapsucker, Mockingbirds, B. Kingfisher, Carolina Wren, Tree and
Rough-winged Swallows, Warbling Vireos, Eastern Kingbirds, Common Mergansers,

Lots of Common Grackles, Red-winged Blackbirds etc. It was a lovely pleasant
evening.

[cayugabirds-l] oops?!!

2012-03-28 Thread Mark Miller
Okay, just had to comment! I was at MWR (visitor center) last weekend when a
lady came in with a report of a Smew by mud lock (thanks to Linda B. for
checking it out), now a report of lots of Cinnamon Teal at MWR? Well the Smew
turned into an old Long-tailed duck decoy that had floated away and the teal
are actually Green-winged Teal (well they do have cinnamon coloring on the
head). Thanks for keeping us on are toes! lol.

Hi all,
Thanks to Dave Nutter's posting, Ton and I headed to Stewart Park around noon
to see the King Eider. Click on the picassa webalbum link below for some photos
Ton took of the eider eating crayfish. On the way home we stopped at the
Pheasant Farm on Game Farm Rd. to count Red Tailed Hawks. There were many
around, but one in particular was on a low stump alongside Game Farm Rd. It may
have been injured - it did not fly when we crept up for a photo - also on this
picassa web album link.
