[OSL | CCIE_Voice] Route Plan questions

2011-08-21 Thread Vega Wong
Hi Experts

This is not exactly a specific question but rather hoping you can share your
experience.

I am going through the topic of route plan. From various lab exercises, I can
see that there are quite a few different approach or way to achieve the route
plan requirements. Then I have to ask, how do you analyse the route plan
requirement or how do you decide which way to achieve the requirements?
For example, I can see some people use transformation CSS at device pool or
some use them at the gateway. Or in terms of translation pattern, some will use
one partiton for all sites, or one per each site.

I suppose the end result is to make sure it works according to the requirement,
I just want to see how everyone tackle this, especially when you only have less
than 8 hours to do this.

Cheers

2011-08-21 Thread Ashraf Ayyash
Hello jorge ,

the only difference between these 2 ways in that when you used the
feature block , you will see the CONF softkey but when its grad out
and when you click on it , you will see the key is not active here ,
however using the soft key in the ephone template will not show you
the CONF soft key at all ,

so if no special requirement mentioned in the exam , i will go with option 2

[OSL | CCIE_Voice] SIP Dial Rules and +Dialing

2011-08-21 Thread John McGaughey (jomcgaug)
Do SIP Rules support +Dialing? For example if I have the following SIP
Dial Rule:

Pattern - \+1212...

Timeout - 0

On a SIP phone missed calls shows +12123945001. If I try to dial this
number I have to wait for the interdigit timeout. It seems to ignore
the \+1212... pattern I created.

All my other non +Dial patterns work just fine (i.e. 5...).

Is this normal or have I got something mis-configured?

Hi Mike,

Have you stripped off the tech prefix on CUCM?

If not, add a Translation Pattern in the none partition:

1#.[23]XXX with a DDI of Pre-dot (assuming your extensions at HQ and BR1 are
2XXX and 3XXX respectively - modify as set up in your lab).

Re: [OSL | CCIE_Voice] Unable to access Proctorlabs.com

2011-08-21 Thread Adil Shaikh
I had booked session from 12 midnight Eastern Time when the outage was in
full swing.
From the past experience, when i send email to supp...@proctorlabs.com in
mid-night session, i do not get response until next working day.
However, i do get very quick response when i log fault through After Hours
support link on the webpage.
I think, Richard wrote me that when the issue is logged through After Hours
support link, a page goes out to the support enginer. This make sense why i
do not get response when i log fault through 'supp...@proctorlabs.com' in
mid-night session but do get response when i log fault throgh After Hours
support link.

Since, last night's situation was catch 22 situation, that is it was
happening in midnight session and also can't access 'After Hours Link', even
an email to supp...@proctorlabs.com would not have been attended to.
That's my 2c comment on last night situation.

Re: [OSL | CCIE_Voice] - Call from Remote destination (SNR) not showing calling name

2011-08-21 Thread Wael Agina
Hi Alejandra,

Actually it is working with me.
You only see the calling name when answer the call, not in rining state.
Try to call from PSTN to MVA #, Authenticate and then call internally, you
should see only calling Number ANI , when answer you see the calling name as
per your name on the rdp line.

Re: [OSL | CCIE_Voice] [GATEKEEPER DIAL FROM BR23001 TO BR11002 GET YOU'RE CALL CANNOT BE COMPLETED AS DIALED]

2011-08-21 Thread Jeff
Hi Mike,
A few suggestions.

CUCM Trunk have a CSS assigned to it that can see the partition that the phones
are in?

Add dtmf-relay h245-alphanumeric h245-signal to your dial-peer 15.

Since the destination phone isn't ringing, turn up 'debug ras' on BR2 and the
gatekeeper. Check that for any errors.

Hope that helps,

Jeff

I cannot complete calls from BR2 CME to BR1 or HQ using gatekeeper on HQ-RTR.
I've verified the Gateway in CUCM and the Gatekeeper in CUCM and the Trunk and
still calls will not complete from CME to either BR1 or HQ Phones. I've double
checked everything. I've reset the gateway, trunk and CUCM service on Sub and
Pub. When I dial from CME 3001 to BR1 or HQ - I get the message your call
cannot be completed as dialed. Any assistance or suggestions would be
appreciated. I match the tech prefix and the zone prefix but still nothing
happens. I must be missing something. Gatekeeper is giving me brain damage!

[OSL | CCIE_Voice] [Phoneview Question.]

2011-08-21 Thread Michael.Sears
I've got all my phones in phoneview working for BR1 (2-7960's), HQ
(1-7962/2-7940) and one phone on BR2 (7940). My SIP phone on BR2 a 7960 gets
discovered by phoneview without an IP address and I manually add it, but I get
response timeout when trying to perform any functions. I can ping the IP
address of the phone from my server that phoneview is loaded on.

Would appreciate any suggestions I think I've tried just about everything to
get it going.

Re: [OSL | CCIE_Voice] - Call from Remote destination (SNR) not showing calling name

2011-08-21 Thread Adil Shaikh
For me, SNR works with Phone name display while ringing and connected.
However, in case of MVA, while phone is ringing I get number only and once
connected i get name and number.

In both case, i fill out External number mask and Name for Remote
Destination Device.

 Hello
I have a problem with the MVA, SNR.
I make a call from the Remote destination to the MVA script, the number
is recognized and I only enter my PIN number. I press 1 to make a call to
an internal phone. The problem is that when the internal phone is receiving
the call the calling name is not displayed. I can only see the caller name
 that is the extension.
I have added the Display name on the Remote Destination Profile, I also
have the display name on the line but still can't see the calling name
Have you ever seen the same problem and do you know how it can be fixed?

Re: [OSL | CCIE_Voice] SIP Dial Rules and +Dialing

2011-08-21 Thread Roger Carpio
John,

I can't find the plus sign as a valid character; what if you just use * as a
wildcard?

Roger Carpio.

Do SIP Rules support +Dialing? For example if I have the following SIP
 Dial Rule:

 ** **

 Pattern - \+1212…….

 Timeout – 0

On a SIP phone missed calls shows +12123945001. If I try to dial this
number I have to wait for the interdigit timeout. It seems to ignore the
 \+1212……. pattern I created.

 ** **

All my other non +Dial patterns work just fine (i.e. 5…).

 ** **

Is this normal or have I got something mis-configured?
