You can't provide 2 static ip addresses using a single dhcp pool on a cisco
router

Either you have misunderstood or a typo in exam.

Hi,

SIP early offer is similar to H323 Fast-Start. With SIP EO the INVITE

Without an NTP/Transcoder CUCM is not able to do EO on SIP Trunks.

But, regarding the DHCP Part, there I am totally lost. I know how to
configure DHCP on IOS, so that each host will become his own IP Address,
every time. Its done with the host and client-id commands under the DHCP
Pools. But, I have no glue hwo to do for a couple of devices with only ONE
DHCP Pool. The way I do it I need 2 Pools, minimum.

Could you please provide a complete Link to the documentation which explains
how to do it? That would be great!

Does anyone know if there is a way to get the exact length of time the caller

Re: [OSL | CCIE_Voice] Unity Connection user sync issue

2011-11-21 Thread Ken Wyan
Hi,

I am still stuck with user import issue from CUCM to Unity Connection.

In CUCM , I created username HQPH1 ( this is user id Last name of user ,
then I associated this username to phone line from CUCM GUI : Device ---
Phone - Directory Number Configuration -- bottom of this page I
added this username from user HQPH1 configuration page of CUCM ,
I added above phone as a controlled device )

Import of this user to CUC is successful ,,, but then I can see user alias
is shown as hqph1 in CUC users. Cisco Unity Connection change username from
upper case to lowercase when importing to user alias.

Next , when I try to sync imported user , this step fails with error
message shown below.
Sunday, November 13, 2011 2:26:04 AM EST, HQPH1,
banner.literal.data.error[An object with the SMTP address (hqph1@cuc7-pub)
already exists.]

All these things happenned when I was using Proctorlabs online racks. It
happenned in different rack numbers in different sessions.

I tried to re-create this issue with my VMWare CUC server. All the time it
worked fine without any issues in user import / sync process. In my CUC
server user alias is shown correctly in uppercase as well.

As many of you are using Proctorlabs , please share with me if you faced
this any workaround. I spent lot of time in proctorlabs to solve this ,
but no success yet.

Please help me to find a solution.
( I re-re-re checked all user import / sync steps I followed the correct
documented procedure )

Regarding DHCP it can be done. The configuration should be as follow. This
will work for different phone models which is the case in CCIE LAB as Phone
1 model is different from Phone 2 model in SC.

STEP 1 Configure DHCP class with random value for option 60.

ip dhcp class SCPH1

   option 60 hex 123456

ip dhcp class SCPH2

   option 60 hex 123456

STEP 2 Configure DHCP Pool as below

ip dhcp pool SC-POOL

   network 142.102.66.0 255.255.255.0

   default-router 142.102.66.1

   option 150 ip CUCM IP*

   class SCPH1

  address range 142.102.66.11 142.102.66.11

   class SCPH2

  address range 142.102.66.12 142.102.66.12

STEP 3 Use the commands debug ip dhcp server packet and debug ip dhcp
server class. The output will be as follow:

Nov 21 14:43:46.981: DHCPD: Sending notification of DISCOVER:

Re: [OSL | CCIE_Voice] lab - 6

2011-11-21 Thread Robert Schuknecht
But, regarding the Blueprint there should only be 7965 Phones. So, all the
Phones would be the same Type and the Option 60 would be identically for
each Phone and Option 60 would not work in this Case. Is there an other
option to fulfill the requirement?

Or, maybe this requirement is a hoax?

Regarding DHCP it can be done. The configuration should be as follow. This
will work for different phone models which is the case in CCIE LAB as Phone
1 model is different from Phone 2 model in SC.

STEP 1 Configure DHCP class with random value for option 60.

ip dhcp class SCPH1

   option 60 hex 123456

ip dhcp class SCPH2

   option 60 hex 123456

STEP 2 Configure DHCP Pool as below

ip dhcp pool SC-POOL

   network 142.102.66.0 255.255.255.0

   default-router 142.102.66.1

   option 150 ip CUCM IP*

   class SCPH1

  address range 142.102.66.11 142.102.66.11

   class SCPH2

  address range 142.102.66.12 142.102.66.12

STEP 3 Use the commands debug ip dhcp server packet and debug ip dhcp
server class. The output will be as follow:

Nov 21 14:43:46.981: DHCPD: Sending notification of DISCOVER:

Hi,

SIP early offer is similar to H323 Fast-Start. With SIP EO the INVITE
includes the SDP with the possible Media Options, Codecs for example.

Re: [OSL | CCIE_Voice] GK bandwidth Issue

2011-11-21 Thread Chris Martin
Manually hard code each region to itself to use G711 then change the
Service Paramater Default Intraregion Audio Codec to g729. CUCM in its
initial request sends g711 and by default CUCM doesn't send a BRQ to update
the actual bandwidth used/negotiated. You can enable the BRQ's but that
will not help if the call fails because of gatekeeper bandwidth commands.
I believe this is a bug because it does happen even with a special
Gatekeeper region that has g729 to everyone.

Option 60 (VCI / Vendor Class Information), at least for Cisco phones, is
the same for the same model, so if indeed all IP phones are the same type,
they'll send the same VCI, meaning you can't use dhcp classes to manually
bind separate IP addresses.

Given that, the only option I'm aware of is to use a dhcp binding file
hosted (for example) on a TFTP server. See the following for reference:
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/ios/12_3t/12_3t11/feature/guide/gtdhcpsm.html

So we must NOT calculate the FRF.12 based on the 384, but use the actuall

So as you guess, this is a bug?

Manually hard code each region to itself to use G711 then change the

the actual bandwidth used/negotiated. You can enable the BRQ's but that
will not help if the call fails because of gatekeeper bandwidth commands.
I believe this is a bug because it does happen even with a special
Gatekeeper region that has g729 to everyone.

 Hi,

SIP early offer is similar to H323 Fast-Start. With SIP EO the INVITE
includes the SDP with the possible Media Options, Codecs for example. Without
an NTP/Transcoder CUCM is not able to do EO on SIP Trunks.

But, regarding the DHCP Part, there I am totally lost. I know how to
configure DHCP on IOS, so that each host will become his “own” IP Address,

And the command that I used for debug are: debug ip dhcp server packet
detail, debug ip dhcp server events, debug ip dhcp server class.

here is the config:

ip dhcp pool Voice
   network 177.3.11.0 255.255.255.0
   default-router 177.3.11.1
   option 150 ip 177.1.254.3

!
!
ip dhcp class Phone1

!
ip dhcp class Phone2
   option 60 hex 123456

R3#sh debug
DHCP server packet detail debugging is on.
DHCP server event debugging is on.
DHCP server class debugging is on.

And here is the debug output that I get using those debug command:

I have a typical problem. we have configured the Widex for our organization.

Dial Pattern for Widex is 77X and 77.

When i take the receiver and dialing the pattern example: 7736000 it is
working.

When I first press speaker button and dialed, 7736000, It saying call can't
be completed after the 5th digit I entered( i.e. I am getting error when I
dial 77360).

Kindly help to resolve the issue. Let me know in-case of any details

As I know, we have to calculate the FRF.12 size based on the Access Rate, and
not per the PVC Speed.
?
So in this case we have to find out the actuall Access Rate of the FR link.
?
So we must?NOT calculate the FRF.12 based on the 384, but use the actuall FR

Am I right? or not??

that will not help if the call fails because of gatekeeper bandwidth

Why the GK is doing that? CUCME requests only 16 bkps (G729 call) and
actually, it is using 128 kbps?

 Is it a BUG?

Re: [OSL | CCIE_Voice] Unity Connection user sync issue

2011-11-21 Thread brajesh kumaR
Hi Ken,

Is this user import you are trying in lab environment (no AD) or
production environment?

Does your CUCM user id AD intergrated. If yes then you can use unity
connection bulk tool to import all users from cucm (only if primary
extension is set on user id) and use then in creating new mailboxes
and updating the mailboxes.

Assuming the Primary Extension gets set in Call Manager….

( 1 )

On Unity Connection,

go to Import Users and import the users from Call Manager .

( 2 ) Now you need to export a list of the users you just imported
from Call Manager to get the user id's in the same case as they were
created in AD. The reason they are correct in Call Manager is that it
is also sync'd with AD. When you imported from Call Manager,
Connection created the mailboxes with the same id as Call Manager
pulled from AD.

To get the list, use Connection's BAT tool to Export Users with
Mailboxes. All you need is alias coloum.Take that column copy it
into the first and second columns of a new Excel worksheet and save as
CSV.

Alias,LdapCcmUserId (These will be the two headers of excel/csv).

( 3 )Last step is to

use the Connection Bulk Administration Tool to Update Users with
Mailboxes, using the csv file you just created. That will cause them
to be synchronized with AD.

Please try and see if this fix your issue.

 Regards,
Brajesh.

happenned in different rack numbers in different sessions.

I tried to re-create this issue with my VMWare CUC server. All the time it
worked fine without any issues in user import / sync process. In my CUC

As many of you are using Proctorlabs , please share with me if you faced

Re: [OSL | CCIE_Voice] GK bandwidth Issue

2011-11-21 Thread Kshitij Singhi
I believe that the bug is related to the intra/inter region issues - don't
have the bug ID handy but it has been discussed before in the forum(Hence,
it is suggested to hard-code the region relationships and set the intra
region to G.729).

You can set the BRQ enabled Service Parameter to TRUE and that should help.

 Hi,

SIP early offer is similar to H323 Fast-Start. With SIP EO the INVITE
includes the SDP with the possible Media Options, Codecs for example.
Without an NTP/Transcoder CUCM is not able to do EO on SIP Trunks.

But, regarding the DHCP Part, there I am totally lost. I know how to
configure DHCP on IOS, so that each host will become his “own” IP Address,
every time. Its done with the host and client-id commands under the DHCP
Pools. But, I have no glue hwo to do for a couple of devices with only ONE
DHCP Pool. The way I do it I need 2 Pools, minimum.

Could you please provide a complete Link to the documentation which
explains how to do it? That would be great!

[OSL | CCIE_Voice] Dialed Display Number.

2011-11-21 Thread Pradeep Kumar Sharma
Hello Guys,

Do we really have to take care of dialed display number on the phone while
call is rerouting to the secondary path in CCIE Lab.

For Example:

HQ phone should be able make Local Calls. If HQ gateway is not available,
the call should reroute via BR1 Gateway.

HQ local number is : 394-2XXX(+1-212-394-2XXX).

While rerouting this call via BR1, we have to prefix this number with 1212
in RL/RG . (91212 in case BR1 is H.323)

At this point the dialed display number on the phone will automatically
change from 393-2XXX to 12123942XXX or something like that.

I know we can take care of it using no supplementary command and route
pattern.

But my question is , do we really have to worry about this ?

Why the GK is doing that? CUCME requests only 16 bkps (G729 call) and
actually, it is using 128 kbps?

 Is it a BUG?

Re: [OSL | CCIE_Voice] GK bandwidth Issue

2011-11-21 Thread Mohammed Al Baqari
Here You go.

CSCsl74701 Bug Details

Top of Form

ARQ requests 1280 when no regions are defined to use g711

Symptom:

ARQ sent to gatekeeper requests bandwidth for a g711 call (1280) even though
only g729 is configured in all of the regions.

Conditions:

In a call routed to a GK controlled ICT and all regions are configured for
g729, the originating CCM requests 160 in the ARQ to the gatekeeper. When
the h225 setup arrives at the terminating CCM, an ARQ is sent to the
gatekeeper requesting 1280. This is because the IntraAudioRegionDefault and
InterAudioRegionDefault service paramater settings are included in the
calculation for the maximum bandwidth request. Callmanager default setting
for IntraAudioRegionDefault is g711.

It should check region pair before applying default if there is nothing
matched.

Workaround:

Set both service parameters to g729, or increase zone bandwidth setting on
the gatekeeper

I believe that the bug is related to the intra/inter region issues - don't
have the bug ID handy but it has been discussed before in the forum(Hence,
it is suggested to hard-code the region relationships and set the intra
region to G.729).

You can set the BRQ enabled Service Parameter to TRUE and that should help.

As I know, we have to calculate the FRF.12 size based on the Access
Rate, and not per the PVC Speed.

So in this case we have to find out the actuall Access Rate of the FR
link.

So we must NOT calculate the FRF.12 based on the 384, but use the actuall
 FR Access Rate.

 Am I right? or not?

You are wrong.
Early Offer requires MTP. CCM doesn't care how you provide MTP.
It's possible to configure software MTP in IOS with G711 or G729. If we
consider software MTP it's G711 *or* (not and!) G729. If you use hardware
MTP on IOS it's G711 and/or G729.

[OSL | CCIE_Voice] CCIE Voice at RTP

2011-11-21 Thread Mark Reed
I just finished my second attempt on the CCIE voice at RTP.
Don't worry. I have permission to share all this information.
First, David the new proctor is awesome. He makes it really clear what he
can and can't tell you. Everyone wants to hang out and talk to him
once you are done.
The food has gotten a lot better. It was edible on my first attempt, it
was great this time.
They confirmed again the passing grade is 80 points for voice.
Passing grade varies for other exams.
Most access at RTP is very quick. Everything is very good except for the
test machine. It is connected via VNC and its terrible. There is an RDP
connection to UCCX and I was able to RDP from there to the test machine and
that worked much better.
The test you get isn't totally random. It is selected by the proctor so
you are unlikely to see the same one twice.
The RS tests are graded overnight in other offices.
The voice test is graded the next day by David at RTP.
A computer grades it first. It goes through and verifies everything it can
and marks it correct as appropriate.
Then the proctor checks the things that the computer can't.
At that point he can stop if its an obvious pass or fail. But if its
questionable he will check the parts the computer marks failed and can
adjust the score at his discression. Examples include the computer
may look for a word and be case sensitive when it searches. But the
proctor could accept other valid options that the computer didn't.
Pass rate on the first attempt for voice is about 8%.
You can't have anything with a battery on you during the test. No phones,
no watches...
Each candidate has a small locker to place things in.
Lunch is manditory. You don't have to eat but you can't work through it.
You can have drinks at your desk.

Thats all I can think of right off hand. Its really a good environment
test in.

[OSL | CCIE_Voice] How to bypass VMWare found pop up after powering up CUCM ?

Re: [OSL | CCIE_Voice] lab - 6

2011-11-21 Thread Ashraf Ayyash
Hello ,

This is Wrong in the Version you have in the lab ,

The Software MTP of the CCM can only work on G711 Codec so if you need to
have MTP for G729 call , you have to have IOS MTP register to the CCM and
available to be allocated for that Call in order for the CCM to use it to
do Early Offer ,
CCM 7.0 is not capable of doing EO on his own , so you have to allocate MTP
in the call to make it EO .

Starting CCM 8.5 , the CCM can do EO on his OWN as long as you have the
latest Version of Phone FW's and IOS

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/ios/ipaddr/configuration/guide/iad_dhcp_svr_cfg_ps6441_TSD_Products_Configuration_Guide_Chapter.html#wp1117976

I tried it last night in my lab.  Here is my config using the static
instructions in that doc.

ip dhcp pool SCDHCP
   origin file flash:SCDHCP
   option 150 ip 142.100.64.12 142.100.64.11
   default-router 142.102.66.254

I created the SCDHCP doc in notepad.  Uploaded it to CUCM, then TFTPed it to my
router.  Once the file is in flash the since dhcp pool looks up the static IPs
in the file then assigns it to the appropriate phone.
