[OSL | CCIE_Voice] Issues powering up phones with the NM-ESW-16

2013-10-05 Thread Bill Hatcher
Has anybody had issues powering up phones when using the NM-ESW-16? I have
two phones on my BR1 router, 7940 and a 7961. The 7940 is running a SIP
load and powers on fine, but the 7961 running a SCCP load will not power on
at all. I'm running firmware version 9-3-1SR2-1S. Any help would be much
appreciated.

[OSL | CCIE_Voice] MVA confusion and quesiton

2013-10-05 Thread ramesh
Hello Guys,

I have the following questions for MVA.

1) I am
followingnbsp; a 4 digitnbsp; internal dial-plan fornbsp; my site B
phonesnbsp; and
there is a requirement that I usenbsp; 3033300nbsp; ( 7 digit number )nbsp;
as my
MVA numbernbsp;nbsp; thennbsp; can strip this 7 digit number tonbsp; the
last 4 digitnbsp; number (nbsp; 3300 ) as my MVA number ?

2) Alsonbsp; my calling number isnbsp; a 7 digit number coming from
pstnnbsp; as 525nbsp; then do I change it to 9525?

3) If incase calling number isnbsp; a 10 digit numbernbsp; then It would come
into site B as 972525 ( which is 10 digits) is manipulation required for
this or can I just use the complete match with 10 digits on the service
parameter level?

2013-10-05 Thread Fredenberg, Cliff
Inbound voip dial peers on h323 gateways strip the +. You have to use something
on the gateway itself (such as voice translation rules) to add the + back to
the call.

Re: [OSL | CCIE_Voice] CFUR vs Calling Party Transformation on MGCP gateway

2013-10-05 Thread Fredenberg, Cliff
Not impossible - just takes extra steps. You are right, you can do calling
party transformations on the gateways, but those will affect all calls, not
just cfur calls.

To be safe, you can add an extra step in the outbound call flow to tag the
cfur call. You can have your cfur css point to a translation pattern that can
pre-pend some sort of identification code (such as **) on the front of the
calling number. Then that translation pattern can forward the call to your
normal cfur route patterns/gateways. On the gateways then, you can have then
have the calling party transformations only operate on the numbers that start
with **

Since the translation pattern can be based on your called number, with this
method you are able to manipulate the calling number based on the called number.

Subject: [OSL | CCIE_Voice] CFUR vs Calling Party Transformation on MGCP gateway

Hi All,

Am I understand correctly that unlike voice translation profile on IOS gateway,
the calling party translation pattern, that is applied to gateway level for
outgoing call, can't be tailored based on destination route pattern?

For example, assuming both Site B and Site C are in SRST mode, for outgoing
call originating to Site B and Site C number based on CFUR, there is no way to
tailor the calling party number so that the calling number is 10D for call
going to Site B and 11D for call going to Site C.

If Site A gateway is H323 because these can be customized using voice
translation profile, but this would be particularly impossible if Site A
gateway is MGCP.

Regards,
--Somphol.

Re: [OSL | CCIE_Voice] TEI_ASSIGNED

2013-10-05 Thread Justin Carney
Did you try the steps I outlined earlier?

Does show ccm indicate your mgcp gw is regisyered to cucm? If not check
your hostname and domain name (if set) on gw and double check the cucm
config.

If so it is registered you could take it a step further and remove the
pri-group from the controller (and essentially all pri and mgcp config)
reboot, then put it all back.

Also, if this is your home lab (or if you have access) what does the pstn
side of the pri config look like? Make both sides have the same isdn
switch-type and the pstn side has isdn protocol-emulate network under
serial interface.

A reload of both routers wouldn't hurt either (before or after all the
above).

Re: [OSL | CCIE_Voice] TEI_ASSIGNED

2013-10-05 Thread Justin Carney
You will not be able to bring up the pri until your mgcp gw registers to
cucm. In my very first reply I assumed it was already registered but I
guess I should have asked.

The most common reason for not registering is a mismatch on hostname. The
gateway will register as either hostname (if ip domain-name not set) or
hostname.domain.com (if ip domain-name domain.com).

I see your hostname is CorpHQ and I didn't see the ip domain-name command
in yiur posted config. In this case make sure that in cucm you list the
mgcp gw as CorpHQ exactly (I always type in the correct/matching case,
I'm not sure if it is actually case sensitive but why take that chance?)

Use show inventory on the router and make sure cucm has the correct
router model and nm/wic part numbers.

If still no luck (just looking at cucm), then delete the gw in cucm and
recreate it. On the gateway use ccm config server [pub ip] and ccm
config to tell the gateway to download the config from cucm. After it
registers you can the no ccm config and make the pri fractional.

For some basics, can you ping cucm pub and sub from the gateway? Can you
ping from cucm cli to the gw lo0 ip? Do you have any qos? If yes remove
qos temporarily to make sure that isn't interfering.

If, after all this it still doesn't work, you should take a look at router
debugs and cucm traces to determine if its a config issue or a network path
issue. If debugs/traces don't show any traffic you could also run a packet
capture on both router and cucm to see if you are getting any traffic at
all between gw and cucm.

A reload of both routers wouldn't hurt either (before or after all the
 above).

Subject: MVA confusion and quesiton
Hello Guys,

I have the following questions for MVA.

1) I am
followingnbsp; a 4 digitnbsp; internal dial-plan fornbsp; my site B
phonesnbsp; and
there is a requirement that I usenbsp; 3033300nbsp; ( 7 digit number )nbsp;
as my
MVA numbernbsp;nbsp; thennbsp; can strip this 7 digit number tonbsp; the
last 4 digitnbsp; number (nbsp; 3300 ) as my MVA number ?

2) Alsonbsp; my calling number isnbsp; a 7 digit number coming from
pstnnbsp; as 525nbsp; then do I change it to 9525?

3) If incase calling number isnbsp; a 10 digit numbernbsp; then It would come
into site B as 972525 ( which is 10 digits) is manipulation required for
this or can I just use the complete match with 10 digits on the service
parameter level?
