Dear ccp4bb,
I have heard from many people that molprobity is the gold standard as
far as validation is concerned. As I am just about to deposit a
structure I therefore figured it was best to use molprobity in guiding
the final stages of my refinement. I do not have enough data to
Simon,
You should always include H atoms in refinement whatever the resolution,
I can't think of any reason for not doing so. They are not refined
independently but 'ride' on the parent atom, so don't contribute to the
parameter and restraint counts, and as you say it is essential that they

Dear all,
I am sorry to bother you with two off-topic questions.
Question one:
I have solved a pig mitochondrial protein crystal structure whose molecular
weight is about 95kd. However, I do not have the sequence information of this
protein. It is weird that I could not blast its sequence in
Dear CCP4bb,
Sorry for the non-CCP4 related question.
I am running HKL2000 (ver 0.98.698m) on an iMac (OSX 10.5). On starting
up the software the following message is displayed:-

From pig live? Yeah sure, toss it in a blender -- you can tell whether
it's alive by the squealing. You may need quite a large blender,
though, and a crane to lift it, pigs are
Do we eally have to idicule postes to the ccp4 boad because of a missing
lette? If evey post with a othogaphic mistake elicited such a eaction,
I doubt anyone would cae to post to the bulletin boad.

Sorry that I missed a letter. I wanted to extract mRNA from pig liver. Thank
you, Frank, for having taught me a lesson. I will carefully check my emails
before I send them to ccp4bb.
I am looking forward to getting suggestions.
Best wishes

I had the same problem with the zoom window, so I just downloaded the
older version of HKL2000 and replaced the old version of xdisp (the zoom
window app.) with the new version. I'm not sure why, but it now works
perfectly.
Hope that helps,
Eric Salgado

Sorry, but I realized my reply was confusing:
I replaced the new version of xdisp on the new working HKL2000 with the
old application, that way the only thing not updated is xdisp.

Or, make sure that you don't post it on Monday, some people, sometimes
are in very bad mood on Mondays, I am not going to explain why.. :P

Hi,
Did you install SHARP/AutoSHARP in macbook with intel core 2 duo (OSX

Hi,
you don't need to install your own httpd: we do ship a httpd binary
ready for use on your machine.
By far the easiest is to follow the instructions on

which boil down to
1. get a few files from us

Dear All,
The Berkeley Center for Structural Biology (BCSB) has recently completed
a major upgrade of the Sector 5.0 beamline optics. A five- to tenfold
improvement in available flux has been achieved at the side-station beamlines
(5.0.1 and 5.0.3), which now generate 1.5x10^11 photons per
