[ccp4bb] 2 PhD positions in Structural Mitochondrial Biology at CPR, University of Copenhagen

2021-03-10 Thread Eva Kummer
Dear colleagues,

2 PhD positions in structural biology of mitochondria will be available in my
newly established lab at the Novo Nordisk Center for Protein Research (CPR) at
University Copenhagen. Our group has a deep interest in understanding the
biology of human mitochondria with a specific focus on how these important
organelles maintain their DNA and how they produce functional RNA species. The
candidates will employ single-particle cryo-EM to understand the structure and
working principles of mitochondrial machines involved in these processes.

We are looking for highly motivated candidates that are eager to acquire new
methodology and have a genuine interest in understanding molecular mechanisms.
At CPR, you will join an interdisciplinary, collaborative and supportive
environment. The institute provides access to state-of-the-art infrastructure
and instrumentation including a Titan Krios and a Glacios both equipped with
Falcon III DED, as well as multiple smaller screening instruments. In addition,
the center entertains a number of core facilities including protein production,
crystallography, biophysics, high performance computing, mass spectrometry, and
genomics. So you will find everything that is needed to help you succeed.
For informal inquiries, please contact me directly:
eva.kum...@cpr.ku.dk. Applications, however, will
have to be submitted via the online portal:
https://employment.ku.dk/phd/?show=153662

For further information about the lab, please refer to:
https://www.cpr.ku.dk/research/protein-structure-function-program/kummer/

Application deadline is 11 April 2021!

I would appreciate if you could forward this advertisement also to interested
candidates that may not be part of the mailing list. Thank you!

All the best,
Eva

Coot does not show you if your chiral compound is R or S. The closest it
gets is the consistency of chiral centres with the dictionary. Validate
-> Validation Outliers will show chiral volume outliers (amongst other
things).

currently looking for a Scientist Structural Biology (cryo-electron microscopy
and single-particle analysis).

Confo Therapeutics, a spin-off of VIB and VUB, is a drug discovery company
built around a disruptive technology which enables it to address 'undruggable'
GPCRs. The company is building a portfolio of transformative medicines in
various disease areas. Confo Therapeutics' headquarter is located on the
Technology Park in Zwijnaarde/Ghent and the company has a second exploitation
site on the Etterbeek campus of the Vrije Universiteit Brussel. More
information about Confo's technology and strategy can be found on
www.confotherapeutics.com.

Role Overview:
Confo Therapeutics is seeking a motivated structural biologist with strong
expertise on single particle cryo-EM

Detailed job description:
Process single particle cryo-EM data including handling raw data,
interpretation, 3D reconstruction and map refinement, and model building in
various pipe-line projects.
Maintenance and development of the infrastructure for cryo-EM, with emphasis on
supporting both internal drug-development pipeline programs and technology
development.
Support high-performance structural biology computing infrastructure including
management of large data storage and processing clusters.
Provide scientific expertise to cross-functional project teams on progress and
explore the feasibility of experiment proposals.
Train scientists in cryo-EM data processing using various state-of-the-art
software for 3D reconstructions, atomic model building and in fundamentals of
cryo-EM sample handling and preparation.
In a project leader role, you will be expected to maintain focus and provide
direction to the team members with clear project plans and defined timelines,
maintain productive relationships with project team members and communicate
progress against goals in a multidisciplinary setting: chemistry, biology,
pharmacology, and modeling.

Job requirements
