2022-12-14 Thread David Armstrong

**

*We are recruiting for a bioinformatician to develop training for the
AlphaFold Protein Structure Database (AlphaFold DB), as part of the
Velankar team at the European Bioinformatics Institute (EMBL-EBI).*

*

This is an exciting opportunity to work as part of EMBL and DeepMind's
new partnership to make the most complete and accurate database of
predicted protein structures freely and openly available to the
scientific community.

The successful candidate will design and develop training for the
AlphaFold DB, liaise with user communities, promote training materials,
and publicly represent AlphaFold DB at various training events. There is
the option for a part time role in this position.

[ccp4bb] Two postdoc positions in structural enzymology

2022-12-14 Thread Meilleur, Flora
Dear colleagues,
We have two immediate openings for Postdoctoral Research Associates at Oak
Ridge National Laboratory:

Position 1: We are seeking a Postdoctoral Research Associate in structural
biology of enzymes degrading recalcitrant natural and synthetic polymers. The
Postdoctoral Research Associate will join a multi-disciplinary research team
that uses enzyme engineering and neutron/X-ray/electron diffraction to
understand structural features that determine activity and design enzymes with
improved efficiency. As an ORNL postdoctoral fellow you will have access to
state-of-the-art facilities for biochemical characterization and X-ray
diffraction, as well as access to world class facilities for neutron and
electron diffraction.
Applicants should have received a Ph.D. in biochemistry, structural biology,
chemistry or related science field within the last five years and should have
extensive experience in protein purification and biochemical characterization.
For informal enquiries please contact Flora Meilleur
(meille...@ornl.gov) or Josh Michener
(michene...@ornl.gov)

Position 2: We are seeking a Postdoctoral Research Associate to characterize
the structure and dynamics of enzymes immobilized on biopolymer matrices using
X-ray and neutron scattering techniques.
Applicants should have received a Ph.D. in material science, bioengineering,
structural biology, chemistry or related science field within the last five
years and should have experience in X-ray and/or neutron scattering techniques.

The project is part of the Biocatalysts Interactions with Gases (BIG)
international collaboration (https://sites.textiles.ncsu.edu/big/), with
partners at North Carolina State University (NC State), Technical University of
Denmark (DTU), and Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL). The candidate will
join the Neutron Scattering Division at ORNL and will work closely with
collaborator and ORNL's Weinberg Distinguished Staff Fellow Dr. Yue Yuan at the
Center for Nanophase Material Science.
