I have recently been working with crystals grown
from 1M sodium succinate at pH 7.5 and I have
found that 20% ethylene glycol worked well as a
cryoprotectant. At concentrations below this we
had ice formation. We did not do an exhaustive
search for a cryo but found that we had very poor
diffr

Is succinate in itself already a cryoprotectant (maybe at somewhat
higher concentration) or should I
add e.g. glycerol ? Any experience or ideas are welcome.
Thanks
