You're running FreeBSD 5.2.1 packages on FreeBSD 5.3? I'm not sure if it
can't make any problems, there were changes to kernel in this area
between the releases and ABI's could have c
in (if so, what brand of media should I use?) or should I try to get a

Go for replacement, absolutely. Your unit is defective. There's just no
justification for modern unit to not burn CMC Mag. +R
a way

Quick and dirty: get wine, get IfoEdit, start IfoEdit, load any IFO,
click Get VTS Sectors button.
I'm not aware of any native tool with IfoEdit
%) return accurate
results, and some of them (say, remaining 50%) return absolutely bogus
values.
No idea if Plextor units always return accurate results, but results
from tested Plextor units match results from the first half of Lite-ON
units. Does not look like accident.

Again, HD-BURN is *CD-R only* thing producing *140

No. This branch is now closed for anything except fixes of security

The help here is not easy. I'd suggest you to upgrade to -CURRENT, if
you're ready to face all the possible problem of running CVS code.
Other posibilities are running FreeBSD 4.x or avoid using cdrecord.

True, this was fixed in revision 1.34 of atapi-cam.c, which is not in
5.2.1 release. Anyway, growisofs know how to workaround this bug, so it
works. cdrecord works fully for writing CDs with it, too... I don't
expect problems.

Green blicking signals buffer underrun. Are you sure you can feed data
to your unit at 8.0x speed? Even 4.0x is quite a load for my 5.2.1 box
(much faster than yours).

Interesting. Have you ruled out a posibility of defective unit?
Can you try it in other, preferably Windows, box? Can you try with
cdrecord-ProDVD? What does &quo

At least this problem is not Linux specific - I'm getting it with 5.16
on FreeBSD too...
