I'm testing a VM installation of CentOS 7,(kernel 3-10.0-327) with the
default XFS filesystem on the root.
During boot up, the VM pauses for about 80 seconds at the following message:
"Started filesystem check on /dev/mapper/centos-root"
... And then the boot continues.

I have ntp running as a service on a PC, with the expectation that it
would keep time in synch to my ntp server.
However, while I can manually update the time using "ntpdate -u ...",
I find that if I manually force the wrong time, the ntpd service does
not automatically re-synch the
