Re: [CentOS-docs] rpmforge references in the wiki
Hello everyone, Am 13.04.2016 um 16:20 schrieb John R. Dennison: Someone made mention on IRC earlier of a reference to rpmforge on the wiki and it got me thinking (yeah, never a good thing)... A quick search on the wiki itself shows a lot_of references to rpmforge. As this is a dead project and has been a dead project for 3+ years now it would be quite useful to the consumers of the wiki material for those references to be removed and replaced with something that is trusted, epel for example. I mentioned it to Christoph Galuschka and it was decided to bring this matter up here. As allready mentioned +1 from in replacing where possible and removing where not. Again, rpmforge is a dead project and any hope of it coming back is just a pipedream. References to it as a resource are a disservice to wiki users. Hi Jim, Am 11.04.2016 um 18:18 schrieb Jim Perrin: There is a Fedora Activity Day (https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/FAD_Documentation_2016 ) centered around documentation, where I'm going to see what can be done about the state of centos documentation from upstream sources. Most of the tooling for documentation for these two groups is centered around git. For the most part, our documentation currently lives in the wiki, and has a fairly high barrier to new contributors. Would the regulars who contribute on the wiki consider consider supporting a migration to a git based documentation workflow? I would be fine with such a move. I think this would help lower the barrier to contribution by allowing new contributors to submit a pull request or patch for documentation rather than join a mailing list, request access, etc. Agreed. Hi Boyan, it is usually custom to: - ask for a specific page which you would like to translate - create an account on the wiki - you will then get a personal homepage, and a page where you have edit rights and where you can start the translation - Once that is done, that page can be put into the right place. Search for ChatZilla, then click the Install button. Once ChatZilla is installed, you can open it from Firefox by going to the Tools menu, then clicking ChatZilla. A new window opens for ChatZilla. Once you have your IRC client is open, go to irc://freenode/ (ChatZilla provides a link to freenode for you to click on). To change your nickname, type /nick yournickname in the input box and press Enter. To register your nickname, type /msg NickServ yourpassword youremailaddress and press Enter. NickServ will send an email back to the given email address, containing a message in the format /msg NickServ VERIFY REGISTER yournickname yourtoken. Copy and paste this message into the IRC client input box, and press Enter. Your nickname is now registered, and no one else can use it. Once you have your nickname registered, type /join #centos to join the #centos chat. I know CentOS since around 2007 ( in the form of the basic OS which was provided with Skyrix's Instant OGo Enterprise Server). I'm using CentOS at home and I'm deploying it at work since 2010. I'm allready contributing to CentOS in the form of t_functional commits, a git howto and german translations of release notes (C6.2, C5.8, live media, minimum media). These are also the areas in which I would like to continue to contribute. The above mentioned account christophgaluschka had access to release notes (live versions and qa versions). Until recently I also had access to http://wiki.centos.org/QaTeam and the QaWiki (http://wiki.centos.org/QaWiki/AutomatedTests/GettingStartedWithGitorious was written by me, don't know why this is not there any more). I've just changed the account to ChristophGaluschka. Could I pleasse regain access to the above mentioned resources. Thanks and cheers Christoph ___ CentOS-docs mailing list CentOS-docs@centos.org http://lists.centos.org/mailman/listinfo/centos-docs

The QaWiki/AutomatedTests/GettingStartedWithGitorious page is still there. No sign I can see of what's wrong with your access. There are no ACLs on the page. Ralph or someone else with the proper privileges will have to create your personal page and fix permissions. Phil ___ CentOS-docs mailing list CentOS-docs@centos.org http://lists.centos.org/mailman/listinfo/centos-docs no apologies needed. The perms will shurely get fixed. cheers ___ CentOS-docs mailing list CentOS-docs@centos.org http://lists.centos.org/mailman/listinfo/centos-docs

[CentOS-docs] 6.1 Release Notes translations
Hello, I have completed the german translation of the C6.1 release notes and would like to put them up at the wiki. I've also created a user account in the wiki but do not (yet) have write access. Could somebody please help. For now I've got the translation as an odf-file (allready mailed to Ralph as advised by KB). Thanks and cheers Christoph Ralph: Thanks for putting the german notes up. If possible could you please grant my user write access to that page to remedy some errors in the translation?
