Alright, so I figured it out. It was essentially because the monitor’s main IP
wasn’t on the public network in the ceph.conf file. Hence, ceph was trying to
connect on an IP where the monitor wasn’t listening.

flawlessly.
ceph monitor logs don’t show any error and I am able to reach the monitor’s
port by telnet. What could be causing this timeout?

I did some digging around and yes, it is exactly as you said: systemd files
remained to boot up the previous OSDs. We removed them and now it works
properly. Thank you for the help.

Of course this fsid ID isn’t listed anywhere in Ceph. Where does ceph-volume
get this fsid from? Even when looking at the code, it’s not particularly
obvious. This is ceph mimic running on CentOS 7 and bluestore.

was only two monitors remaining? Or is it that reduced data availability

to deactivate this alert in particular so that ceph health can report actual
issues and as a result, prevent Nagios from throwing alerts every time this bug
happen? I would deactivate them only until this bug is fixed.

will eventually hit a speed block because of either the
CPUs or the network, but maximum speed is not my current concern here and can
be upgraded when needed. I’ve been wondering, could these hiccups be caused by
data caching at the client level? If so, what could I do to fix this?

OSD drive gets full, then
CEPH would stop working, thus losing some unused space.
Now, if I end up needing to replace some of the OSDs with bigger drives, will
it take longer to have one OSD fill up, resulting in losing less space? Or will
it end up being about the same?
