1) Allaire caters to big businesses

but newsgroups have really died down over the years and people are really
attached to their mail.

Actually, this list was created about 5 years back by Mike Tacelosky as an
alternative to the Allaire forums which was in a very primitive stage. It's
stayed in existence because people like email and immediate posts
(relatively) over forums posts in many cases.
