uninstalling cf 7 from os x leopard

2008-07-06 Thread Mike Little
hey guys,

we have just managed to install cf8 on our new imac - and it didn't take as
long as i thought it would!! we used mamp to manage the apache server settings.

question: we also mistakenly installed a version of cf7 on the same machine. i
have just tried the uninstall and it asks me for the user password. after
entering what is the correct password - it tells us it is not valid??

this is very weird. has anyone had this problem??

if we cannot use this uninstall feature would anyone have info on how to
unistall manually from the os x platform - sorry i am very new to web
developing on the mac!

thanks heaps

Creating a directory on the viewers machine (Windows)

2008-07-06 Thread Dirk Dinnewet
Hello,

in order to save the content of a cfdocument file on

Can this be done with CF or JavaScript ?

Installing Open BD and CF8 on the same machine?

2008-07-06 Thread Andy Matthews
I've got a personal development machine (with CF8) at my house that mirrors my
hosting company's environment. But I've also got some code which I'd like to
make available to a few friends via HTTP request straight out of my house off
of the same box. I tried giving my friend the IP and doing some port forwarding
in my router, but then ran into the license exception error for CF8 (totally
forgot about that).

Anyway, so now I'm wondering if installing OBD on the same machine (an Intel
based Mac Mini) is an option. I don't want to mess up my CF8 environment though.

Can anyone advise me on what I could do to make these tools available remotely
using CFML? Thanks in advance.

RE: uninstalling cf 7 from os x leopard

2008-07-06 Thread Dave Watts
Let me qualify this upfront: I have very little experience with CF7 on OS X.
I do work with CF on Linux fairly often, though.

question: we also mistakenly installed a version of cf7 on
the same machine. i have just tried the uninstall and it asks
me for the user password. after entering what is the correct
password - it tells us it is not valid??

Are you sure it's not asking for the administrator/root password, or
whatever it's called on a Mac?

if we cannot use this uninstall feature would anyone have
info on how to unistall manually from the os x platform -
sorry i am very new to web developing on the mac!

You should be able to simply delete the directory containing CF7 in most
cases. You may have references to CF7 in some initialization scripts; you
can edit those appropriately or simply ignore the errors they raise. If you
configured Apache to work with CF7, you can edit httpd.conf to remove the
CF/Jrun info.

My first question would be... is your DATABASE NAME really MyDataSource?

That's an odd name for a database.

Like if you go to the mysql command prompt and type show
databases... is MyDataSource one of them?

The error implies that you are connecting without a problem, but that
the connection is asking for the database named MyDataSource and
MySQL says there is no database with that name.

Yep there is a ready2run jetty version (
http://openbd.viviotech.net/downloader.cfm/id/13/file/jetty-openbd.zip). It
uses a nonstandard port but you can change it to 80 fairly easy (read the
readme). If you have more questions about setup you might also check out

Both OBD and Railo come with a built in server that runs on port 8080...
Jetty I think. There is a script that you have to run last I remember (sh

forward requests to port 8080. Railo (2.0 community and beta 3) comes with
an cf admin area. I don't think that OBD has an admin yet.
