RE: Portals/Portlets in ColdFusion?

2008-04-11 Thread Dave Watts
I noticed that Adobe Labs has a newish portal/portlet
framework out that sits atop WebSphere Portal. Are there any
CF portal frameworks/apps out there that are written
(natively) in CFML that folks would recommend?

To the best of my knowledge, there are no native CF portal applications that
conform to either of the common portlet standards (JSR-168, WSRP). The Adobe
Labs project supports the creation of portlets conforming to the WebSphere
API supported by WebSphere Portal Server, which is proprietary and quite
different from JSR-168.

Adam,

Given that we're transitioning over to JBoss for our app servers (Blue Dragon
for J2EE Commercial), please keep us posted on this project.

Buddy of mine also has a similar project for jboss portal, I need to poke
him some more about getting it posted. Course it would probably help if I
got that server up and running I keep talking about with him...

Although its certainly not the official portlet standard FarCry does
have an elegant publishing rule engine that allows non-technical
users to place any sort of ColdFusion functionality into designated
areas of your view.

I recently did an Adove eSeminar on FarCry Fortress -- the latest
release -- which you may find interesting:

Quick demo of two cool plugins (about 10mins):

The general overview showcases publishing rules briefly nearer the end
of the presentation.

Funny you should ask. I just ran into this today. I have not looked into it.
I am just aware of it's existence.

Where'd you see that? I just poked around Adobe Labs (briefly, I'll grant you)
and didn't see what you're describing: what's it called?
