RE: FCKeditor File Browsing question

2007-02-22 Thread Mark Leder
One option would be to install CFFM on the remote server to serve as
the file manager, and disable all upload/modify/manipulate capabilities...
then you could just point fckeditor to the remote instance of CFFM. CFFM
1.14has a readOnly property allowing to to use it as a public file
repository..

Great idea, thanks.

Not likely.. the file browser built into FCKeditor uses cfdirectory, which
of course can only handle local files.

Indeed. Luckily, writing a connector isn't too difficult. That's one of
the
things I like about FCKEditor-- seems smart to use a connector, and
abstract everything to bits of XML. Easy to wank* on. ;-)

*I mean the US kind of wank, not the fist of furry kind.
There are certain correlations, tho... =]

Denny is just saying that cuz he has already written one... or he did
on an older version :D. Worked better than the original IIRC.

I'd use Rick's tool nowadays. You can have CFFM in place in like 10
minutes. The FCK file manager is just not worth the trouble imho. I
just took FCK 2.40 and CFFM 1.15 and put them together in no time
flat. Works great.
