Q-sms offers the cheapest price in Nigeria and one of the most competitive

The Nigeria mention makes them immediately suspect in my mind, but I suppose

is interested in sending SMS alerts to their users and would like to avoid
the carrier-specific sms e-mail addresses if possible.

answer to that question is yes - however, there is no API
