I prefer the butyl also, alot of glass companies will not use it, and I had
a windshield done with urethane and looked like crap I thought, it squirms
more than the butyl, I also had another car done with urethane and the glass
company painted a black boarder around the windshield first.
the truth is but according to
the glass folks I deal with they cannot legally install with buytl rubber.

Hey
When my 69' need a new rear glass I contacted a local club here in central
Illinois to see who they would recommend. I had already bought the glass via
on line and needed someone to install it. The club Secretary gave me the names
of three different individuals that had done work on club
.
Good Luck.

The easy way is the glass shop. I do all my own, but I was taught by an
expert. The clips have to be in place before the windshield is installed. If

If the window is not installed correctly and is too close and tight to the
metal frame you risk cracking the glass going over irregular surfaces (rail
road tracks etc)
Most glass shops would only charge around $50 to install the glass - I would
call around and find someone who knows older

You would be better off having it installed by someone that knows glass and old
cars, I have experience in installing my own glass and I'll tell you when the
budjet allows. I pay for it!! Just make sure they know how to install the
chrome correctly. I had to get a claim with Safelite about
