He wants the corporations to stay in private hands so they can grab 6 trillion cu. ft. of natural gas; 950 million barrels of liquid hydrocarbons; lay 100,000 km. of pipe over our territory; and pocket $67 billion from exports of our resources while polluting all our territories and waters. His topic appeared to be Listen to George Bush on how to destroy and bankrupt countries, businesses and the people. The enthralled audience heaped praise on this braggart who demolished countries through brutal wars, killing millions, doing away with civil liberties, breaking international laws, circumventing the Geneva accords and tearing down the global economy. He and his friends know how to take the cream when the economy melts down and the taxpayers are left holding the bag. Gale Davidson of Lawyers Against the War of Vancouver crafted a legal position that under Canadian law Bush could be arrested for being a suspected war criminal. Over 700 protesters stood outside the Telus Convention Center. 75 heavily armed, especially bulky, RCMP and private Blackwater-type security were there to guard Bush. They pointed guns at the crowd. Who knows how many others were in the crowd, on the rooftops, maybe even behind cameras and in the sky? Splitting the Sky, a Mohawk from Six Nations, evoked international law by asking the RCMP to arrest Bush. They refused. He told them, I am serving you notice that you are protecting a war criminal and an international terrorist. At the same time he tried to deliver a letter from Ramsay Clark, the former U.S. attorney general, who supports the broad coalition of peace, human rights, labor, law, environmental and other organizations that are seeking U.S. prosecution for Bush's crimes. The U.S. people are responsible for Bush's crimes against peace and humanity by failing to stop him. There is universal jurisdiction over such crimes, mentioning especially the crimes of aggression in Afghanistan and Iraq. [Bush's Calgary will rally business interests to continue to usurp our resources and the environment.] Bush proclaimed himself to be the decider by usurping unlimited dictatorial power. He deceitfully declared that national security was threatened and signed into law many unconstitutional Acts of Congress. He enriched favored corrupt predators by giving them contracts for security services, war relief and reconstruction. At home mortgage lenders, banks, insurance companies and corporate executives exploited Bush policies to enrich the rich. He radically increased the national war debt and military spending which led to the collapse of the global economy. Corrupt Bush appointees committed crimes in various Executive Departments, including the Bureau of Indian Affairs in the Department of the Interior. Splitting the Sky broke through the police line and advanced alone to arrest George Bush. He got 2 to 3 feet into the Center. He pushed his way through the police line with his hands over his head yelling, I am not touching anyone. They surrounded and pounced on him. He was brutalized, arrested and beaten over and over again in the police van and jail cell. He was kept for 24 hours and released on $500 bail. Amnesty International describes how, Julian Fantino said during cross-examination in a provincial court that the Framework is not a firm and fixed mandated way of doing business. How much discretion are cops taking? They point out that Fantino's remarks threatening Shawn Brant's safety and reputation were recorded, cannot be denied and are cause for serious concern. The information turned over to the outsiders is used to injure us. State espionage is usually done for military purposes. Canada is continuing its military operations and threats against us today even though military approaches to social problems are illegal according to international law. In our opinion, domestic terrorism is being done in Canada aimed at us. How are informants cultivated? Someone can become an informant after an arrest, threat or torture. If you spy for us, we'll protect you [from us], so the story goes. They send them back to blend into the target community. They may even let them conduct crimes like dealing drugs so long as they give information about the community to their handlers. The spy known as the asset is directed by a cover or a handler.In between are the cut outs or couriers who deliver the messages and who may not know the asset or the handler. The CIA model is a clandestine cell system where the players don't ever meet, except on a need-to-know basis. A safe house is a refuge for spies. The cover can be stationed in the middle of the community where they recruit and supervise their agents who spy on us. They try to recruit someone who is trusted and has access to sensitive information. A spy who tries to infiltrate the target is called a legend. They can also be long time moles or defectors who stay within the community and even have families. Some agents could be the janitor who digs through people's trash. This gives new meaning to the term bottom feeders. They are also known as dumpster divers. Sometimes the lowest person in the organization is actually the head of the spy ring. Nathan Wright of the Assembly of First Nations AFN is the liaison with the Ontario Provincial Police OPP. He was told about the unarmed peaceful opposition to this jail being built in Tyendinaga. The OPP were waiting nearby to be called in. That's news to me, he said. He didn't know the OPP had made themselves visible. What did he mean by this? Who called in the invading aboriginal police from Moraviantown, Walpole Island, Akwesasne and elsewhere? Tyendinaga Band Council Chief, R. Don Maracle, was at the demonstration until noon and then left for lunch, leaving the truckers behind. The multi-million dollar portable modular mega- prison was still on the trucks. Who needs a prison when many Mohawks have been waiting years for decent housing and clean water? They built a huge fire at the entrance to the site, cooked and served everybody some food, including the truckers. Then the truckers left. Canada sent in what looked like a colonial invading army? If you blinked your eyes, you would have thought you were in the Middle East. The U.S. set up governments in Iraq similar to the band and tribal councils on Turtle Island whose goal is to municipalize and assimilate us. In Iraq they created local armies to protect these U.S. puppets. People were recruited and trained to terrorize their own communities. This is common totalitarian practice. The RCMP and OPP have both indicated they do not have jurisdiction in at least two Mohawk communities, Akwesasne and Kahnawake. They operate behind a smoke screen. They use aboriginal police to do their dirty work. The aboriginal police have managed to sow seeds of suspicion and conflict in Ongwehonwe communities. On October 23 2008 Prothonotary Mireille Tabib of the Federal Court of Canada ordered that Mohawk women, Kahentinetha and Katenies, who live in Kahnawake and Akwesasne, are not Canadian residents! Therefore, they must pay the crown's expenses to defend itself from charges of assaulting and attempting to murder them at the Cornwall border check point on June 14, 2008. We know that we Ongwehonwe are not Canadians or part of that foreign colony. They swear allegiance to THE QUEEN and came here to squat on our land. They have no jurisdiction over us, our possessions or our territories. They have no right to attack us, beat us up and try to kill us, not under our law which is the law of the land [Kaianereh'ko:wa], or under the international accords they have signed, or even under Canadian law. If we are not careful Canada could try to turn Tabib's Order calling us non-residents as a pretext to imprison us in our communities or expel us from our land to who knows where. They may want to illegally limit our country to our communities, rather than recognizing our title to the whole of Onowaregeh, Turtle Island, which we never and cannot gave up. Canada and the establishment are always trying to create situations to attack us for resisting their colonial incursions. They have a whole bag of dirty tricks. One is to lay fake charges so they can impose conditions on us for years. When they have to prove their case, they drop the charges. The military is getting more involved in civil matters. The U.S. Marines are in the forefront of developing, testing and using so-called non-lethal weapons NLW for what is being called domestic crowd control, or more accurately, fascism. Here are some of the new weapons being used by the state's agents to attack the people they are supposed to protect: 1) Directed Energy Weapons are used against people and electronic equipment. Electromagnetic Energy is directed in a beam or pulse. The transmitter can be mounted on a vehicle that looks like a large speaker box to disable electronic equipment, disorient and disable people. It may cause organ damage and, of course, death. It has no bullet. So it's harder to trace who the killers are. High Powered Microwave Weapon is an electromagnetic pulse that can burn skin in an instant. It disables equipment. In April 2007, there was an accident with the Active Denial System 1, which is a pain ray or death ray gun, during a trial at the Moody Air Force Base in Georgia. It was left on and somebody was badly burned. This gun is being used in Iraq, Somalia, Palestine and Afghanistan. V2K is electromagnetic energy for mind control to create mass murderers such as soldiers. Oct. 22, 2008. Early Tuesday morning the Akwesasne Mohawk Colonial Cops went to Katenies' mother's house in Akwesasne. This community is located at the junction of the colonial entities known as New York State, Ontario and Quebec. Her soft-spoken mother is always cautious. They apparently wanted to drive Katenies to court in Alexandria Ontario for a trial - or did they really want to abduct her again? For all we know, it wouldn't have been just jail this time. She might have been disappeared for good. It seems like these operatives are getting their advice from the same death squads that make disappearances happen in Latin America. The corporate press calls Katenies an outspoken native rights activist. How? She is a quiet person who hardly speaks to anyone. Even when she went to court, she put her arguments about jurisdiction in writing and filed it as a motion. The court refused to acknowledge it or give her a chance to speak. That's because they can't answer her arguments. They are out to get her. Oh, what a tangled web we weave when we are honest with the deceivers. In 2003 Katenies was falsely charged with running the border which goes right through the middle of the community. She was on her way to see her daughter who lives nearby on the portion claimed by Ontario. Katenies was waved through. Then she heard on the scanner that bells, whistles and sirens had gone off for her daughter. Katenies went back and was arrested. What followed were illegal warrants upon warrants upon warrants to wear her out and try to break her spirit. It wasn't working. This made the colonial terrorists known as the crown real mad. The crown had ignored Katenies' question on jurisdiction and proceeded to trial. She was never arraigned. Years have passed since the deadline expired. In law failure to respond is taken as an admission. On January 17, 2007, she placed a motion before the court that the Canadian judicial system has no authority over her as a Kanion'ke:haka woman and to dismiss the charges. The law of the land is the Kaianereh'ko:wa which they have been violating. She did not show up on Tuesday October 21 2008 because the issue had been dealt with. In February 2004 Judge Renaud had reassured Katenies that he understood the motion and would answer it. In September 2004 he told her she did not have to be in court. Then he double-crossed her and issued a warrant for her arrest. This time in Alexandria Judge Renaud impatiently waited for the cops to bring Katenies into his courtroom. What I would like to do is issue the [fifth] bench warrant and recess the court for an hour, said the judge to federal and provincial Crown attorneys, Marian Bryant and Helene Desormeau. An hour went by and there was no sign of Katenies. There was no trophy to parade. What is Renaud's bench warrant worth? The court has already admitted that it has no jurisdiction over Katenies. She won by default. Paradoxically, Katenies is the one who is respecting the court's decision. Renaud is violating his own court's rule. Akwesasne Mohawk Police officer, Philip Swamp, arrived. He said that unfortunately he was appearing empty-handed. He didn't have Katenies in his clutches. Swamp reiterated that Henes Porter had gone to her mother's home. As a member of the Liar's Club, Porter made a false claim. He said that she told him Katenies no longer lives there and that she could possibly be living in Valleyfield, Quebec!! This is complete speculation! It violates Canadian rules designed to make sure that firsthand truth comes out in court. This lie was repeated by a local flyer known as the Cornwall Standard Freeholder. In mid-May 2008, someone came to Kahentinetha's house and warned her to watch out for her life and not to enter Ontario. It was alleged that Ontario Provincial Police OPP Commissioner Julian Corleone Fantino was gunning for her. If you go there, you might be killed or disappeared, she was told. She did not take this warning seriously. Just a couple of weeks later she and Katenies were passing through the Cornwall Ontario check point. They had no reason to suspect their lives were in danger. Both were almost assassinated by the jackasses of the Canada Border Services Agency [CBSA]. They were assaulted, beaten and almost killed. But for all the cloak and dagger, it was a relatively straightforward transaction. It was business as usual, Transport Canada spokeswoman Marie-Anyk Côté said of the deal that saw Saskatoon-based Cameco Corp. purchase some 550 tonnes of yellowcake, which is used to make fuel for nuclear reactors. The volatile, but often transported, cargo arrived in Montreal by ship on Saturday. Although Cameco says the U.S. military, which helped organize the sale, asked for the deal to be done in secrecy, the Canadian government agency that monitors such transports was less paranoid. Ms. Côté said Transport Canada gave a lot of thought to where the shipment was coming from - perhaps the most volatile place in the world. However, if the agency did have concerns, she added, the shipment wouldn't have gone ahead. Still, existing laws for shipping radioactive material meant the delivery was subject to myriad restrictions - everything from packaging to the weight of the shipment to the emergency-response plan were tightly regulated. Uranium is classified under Class 7 - radioactive materials - in the transportation of dangerous goods regulations. Although yellowcake could possibly be used in a weapons-creation process, it does not pose a high risk if stored and handled properly. With major mining operations in Saskatchewan, Cameco is the world's largest producer of uranium. Company spokesman Lyle Krahn said Cameco was contacted by the U.S. State Department earlier this year, and asked to join in the bidding process for the Iraqi material. Although the deal is technically with the Iraqi government - Baghdad gets the money - Washington had a significant driving role in the deal. The yellowcake, all of which is believed to date before 1991, originated at the Tuwaitha nuclear complex south of Baghdad. Military and diplomatic officials initially considered sending the uranium to Kuwait's port on the Persian Gulf, but such a route would pass through Shia-controlled areas of Iraq within close proximity to insurgents. Kuwait was also reluctant to proceed. After Cameco secured the contract to buy the uranium, U.S.-led crews began moving the yellowcake from corroded, decades-old compartments to about 3,500 secure barrels. In April, convoys moved the shipment from Tuwaitha to Baghdad's international airport. It took two weeks and 37 flights in May to transport the cargo to a U.S. military base in Diego Garcia, a tiny British territory in the Indian Ocean, before it was shipped to Montreal. Cameco would not disclose how much it is paying for the 550 tonnes of Iraqi yellowcake, but Mr. Krahn indicated Cameco would make money on the deal. That would suggest Cameco paid less than market rates for the uranium. The spot price for the metal currently stands at $59 (U.S.) a pound while the so-called term price is about $80 a pound. She is the publisher of MNN and regular internet reports that are very critical of police and government actions toward Indigenous people. Canada isn?t satisfied to waste billions of dollars a year on war missions overseas. It?s using the same armored fist at home. Today the town of Deseronto on Tyendinaga Mohawk Territory was surrounded by the armed forces of the Ontario Provincial Police. Deseronto is an illegal nonnative enclave. With eyes wide open, Emile and his father Theodore Nibourg of Napanee Ontario, who own the ?Smiling Wilderness Restaurant? on the TransCanada Highway, decided they wanted to build a $35 million condominium on Mohawk land in Deseronto overlooking the Bay of Quinte. Never mind that they don't own the land, Canada refuses to acknowledge Indigenous property rights. The Nibourgs are real estate developers of commercial and residential properties out of Kingston Ontario. They are fully aware of the Culbertson Land dispute which has been the focus of negotiations between the federal government and the Mohawks since 1995. There was evidence of extensive illegal dumping including large amounts of asphalt. Not only was the dumping illegal it also violated environmental protection laws by contaminating ground water with toxic waste. Tim Letch was involved in some way in the condo development. The Nibourgs appeared to have pushed Tim Letch out of the picture. In a press release from the Sadie's Lane Longhouse at Tyendinaga supporting the occupation, according to the Two Row Wampum agreement, they said that, It's our land and we are prepared to help defend it. Mr. Nibourg or anyone else trying to develop our land in Deseronto better think again. The peaceful encampment is on a large grassy knoll, overlooking the Bay, surrounding a large tipi. The full moon was glistening off the water. There was drumming, singing and good humor. Flashing Rotiskenekete patrol cars ringed the encampment. According to the OPP budget plan, they need to find some Mohawk fall guys to arrest to illegally enforce their foreign laws. Everybody except us cashes in - police doing overtime, justice system, Indian Affairs, bureaucrats, media, the town, and maybe the developer. All because they know we will do what we are supposed to do, defend our land! This morning at 5:00 am an overwhelming force of armed OPP are just monitoring the situation. The Mohawks of Tyendinaga camped on the property last night. This morning they set up blockades on highway 2 just east of Deseronto. They've got East and West bound roads blocked, said Constable Jackie Perry of Napanee provincial police. He said vehicles can go north on Deseronto Road at the Tintersection. On April 11th the Nibourgs had started cutting trees on the property. The Rotiskenekete appeared on the scene, stopped them and told them to leave. Nibourgs seem to think that the OPP is their private army. Ignoring the legal rights of the Mohawks at Tyendinaga, they declared, If you Mohawks don't leave, we are going to call the OPP and have you kicked out. He appeared to be setting up a confrontation. A few days later Nibourg decided to apologize and asked for a meeting with the Rotiskenekete. Obviously, he had his eye on the lucrative pay out received by Henco Inc. for their illegal development at Six Nations Caledonia. He was quite blunt about it. He offered to use them as pawns to extort money from the Ontario Government. He asked the Rotiskenekete to occupy the said land and block the roads in order to escalate the situation. Then he would ask the government to pay him for the land, his expenses and his forecasted profits. Then he would agree to stop the construction. We understand he doesn't even need the money to build this because he's planning to be bought off. Regarding Deseronto, the government violated our lands rights by fraudulently giving out permits for nonnative people to build on our land also referred to as the Culbertson Tract of 1873.The Rotiskenekete told Nibourg, No. There will never be a development on our land. We want our land that Deseronto sits on returned to us. We demand that the government deal with the nonnative residents of Deseronto by compensating them and paying for their relocation. They told Nibourg, You will be the last to be dealt with. The Rotiskenekete added, We don't want to be used as a tool for extorting money from any foreign governments, including the governments of Canada and Ontario. Then Nibourg said

News Release HMCS Charlottetown rescues drifting sailors CEFCOM / COMFEC NR 08.010 - February 5, 2008 OTTAWA - The patrol frigate HMCS Charlottetown has rescued two sailors found adrift in the Arabian Sea aboard the Azaan, a 240-foot barge designed to be towed by a tugboat. On February 3, 2008, the frigate's Sea King helicopter was conducting a routine patrol as part of maritime security operations when the crew spotted the Azaan 100 miles northeast of Muscat, Oman. As the helicopter approached, the crew members could see two people aboard waving frantically, and no tug in sight. They reported the barge's position to Charlottetown, which changed course to intercept it and despatched an approach team with a translator in a rigid-hulled inflatable boat to investigate. With the translator's help, the sailors aboard the barge told the approach team a chilling story. Citizens of Pakistan, they left the United Arab Emirates on January 29 as members of the crew of a vessel named Al Wabi, which was towing the Azaan to a scrap-metal yard in Jiwani, Pakistan. On January 31, the towing cable broke in heavy seas, and they boarded the barge to attach a new one. While they were working, the Al Wabi lost propulsion for some reason, and then capsized and sank, taking with her the other five members of the crew. The two men on the barge were left with nothing to eat or drink, no shelter, and no means of communication. As soon as the sailors' story was relayed to HMCS Charlottetown, commanding officer Commander Patrick St-Denis ordered an exhaustive search of the vicinity in the hope that other crewmembers from the Al Wabi might have survived. Only debris from the sunken vessel was found, however, and the search was terminated at sunset. HMCS Charlottetown embarked the two Pakistani sailors and gave them a hot meal, a shower, clean clothes, a place to sleep, and a chance to call home to let their families know they were safe and in good hands. The frigate's crew then rigged lights on the barge to prevent other vessels from colliding with it, and reported its position and status of the survivors to Commander Task Force 150, the coalition authority for maritime operations in the region. Charlottetown then proceeded to the United Arab Emirates to deliver the rescued sailors to Pakistani officials. HMCS Charlottetown is currently deployed in the Persian Gulf and Arabian Sea on Operation ALTAIR, Canada's maritime contribution to the continuing U.S.-led campaign against terrorism known as Operation ENDURING FREEDOM. CANADA'S INDIAN AFFAIRS FINANCED WAR MACHINE TO ATTACK KANEHSATAKE MOHAWKS ON JAN. 12 2004 PLEASE FORWARD WIDELY!!! MNN. Jan. 27th 2008. Government documents received through an Access to Information request prove that the attack on peaceful Kanehsatake Mohawks by a heavily armed 67-man paramilitary force was planned, financed and implemented by Indian Affairs, Solicitor General's Office and the Prime Minister's Office of Ottawa. The documents reveal that the initial lay out of over $900,000 was illegally provided by Indian Affairs to Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness for this coup. [PSEPC Code 0880; Ref. Code 520336]. The documents show that a total of $40 million was spent on this attack. [$20 million from Canada and $20 million from Quebec.] Secret bi-lateral agreements between Canada and Quebec laid out funding arrangements. Canada was to provide 52% and Quebec 48% of the policing funds. Indian Affairs has no authority in policing. It was strictly illegal a blatant violation of Canadian law and a misappropriation of Indigenous resources and Canadian taxpayers' dollars at a time, when many Indigenous communities are suffering from third world conditions, without even clean water to drink. Despite the huge number of blanks where crucial information was whited-out from the documents, it was still possible to piece together the ghoulish story that's going to haunt the corporate government players to their graves. To set it up, the culprits, Indian affairs, appointed a third party manager, PriceWaterhouseCoopers [who were allegedly paid over $1.5 million a year in fees over several years], to divert Kanehsatake community funds towards this phony `coup d'etat' [MCK Minister No. 186-2004-00069]. In a March 24, 2005 memo for the Deputy Minister of PSEPC, Chantal Public-Wrong Bernier, the Assistant Deputy Minister, pointed out that diversion of funds was illegal but went ahead and signed the authority anyway, because the Privy Council Office and Treasury Board recognized their authority in the fall of 2003. The first check was recorded by PWC as having been cut in July 2003. [Denise Charron PSEPC Aboriginal Policing Directorate]. As there was no way for Indian Affairs to fund such a military attack of Indigenous people, Indian Affairs made the first payment to get it started. They diverted money out of core funding for Kanehsatake into cars, weaponry, bullets, hotels, meals and everything needed for their hired mercenaries to play their lethal game. Their mission was to take down the Police Commission, the police force, the cigarette trade, take over the police station and council house and to bring the Mohawks into submission. They were instructed to protect James Gabriel's four chiefs. They had a hit list of Mohawks who were to be taken down on sight. Whatever happened to Canada's boasting about the rule of law? Canada abrogated the death penalty years ago. These executions appear to have been ordered and approved at the highest levels of the Canadian government. This operation was given a blank check by Indian Affairs, Public Safety Emergency Preparedness, Treasury Board and the Privy Council Office under the guidance of the Prime Minister's Office. Kanehsatake was kept as a separate file, directly under the Prime Ministers, first, Jean Chretien [now of Heenan Blaikie] and then Paul Martin. The man in charge was Eric Alter Boy Maldoff, of Heenan Blaikie, Chief Federal Negotiator for Canada with Kanehsatake, according to his own website. In a Question Period Note, by Jean Chartrand David Hallman, of Aboriginal Policing Directorate, dated May 30th 2005, they referred to a television report aired on Radio Canada on May 27 2005, Chief Mediator, Eric Maldoff, appointed in 1995 by then Prime Minister, Jean Chretien, received $429,248 last year alone. They went on to state that, Mr. Maldof would have received more than $2 million for his services. Ten years later, Kanehsatake is still on the front pages of the written press. A reliable source stated that in 2003 and 2004 Maldoff was making $1.5 million a year from Kanehsatake funds. On the 13th January 2005 there was a conference call of the Federal Working Group on Kanehsatake. 2 items: Letter to the Editors Out of the Algonquin Frying Pan and into the Mohawk Fire January 8, 2008 From the beginning, the Crown, Ontario and agents wanted the farcical mediation meetings to be held behind closed doors. They wanted to isolate the Ardoch and Shabot Algonquin leadership to make secret $deals$ over a supposed uranium mine. According to Indigenous law, such meetings that concern the people should be open to the people as the Algonquins have repeatedly insisted. Suddenly, Ontario says the meetings are open to the public but now they are to be held in Kingston, outside of Algonquin territory, two hours away from the affected community. Moving the mediation out of Algonquin territory is also a breach of Algonquin law. However, this is a clear case of the proverbial, Out of the frying pan and into the fire! Kingston is in Mohawk territory! Why, we must ask, would the meetings be moved to Kingston? For whose convenience? We hear rumours of Crown agents who need city night life and their accustomed type of watering hole, not available in the remote areas of Sharbot Lake. The new location was certainly handy for the Mohawks, perhaps too handy. When they changed the venue, the mediation team knew Kahentinetha Horn of MNN was planning to attend - Randy Cota and Bob Lovelace had invited her! (In July 2007, the Algonquins sent a wampum to the Mohawks seeking their help in the blockade against uranium mining at Robertsville. Nuclear development on Algonquin land would affect Mohawk communities downstream. This official nation to nation agreement is ongoing.) The mediation team were all surprised anyway to see a large delegation of Ongwehoneh women and men from the four Mohawk communities of Kahnawake, Kahensatake, Akwesasne and Tyendinaga. I am very sorry I could not arrange transportation to join them. The mediation team were even more shocked to hear Elder Kahentinetha speak in Mohawk to open the meeting according to Ongwehoneh customs and protocols. Ardoch Algonquin Negotiator, Bob Lovelace sought to ignore her and defer to one of the Mohawk men. Bob the Great Pretender is so accustomed to colonial and sexist ways that he could not accept a woman with such obvious authority. The Mohawks were not about to let the farce continue without exposing it for what it is. From what I gather, the Monday meeting was a game of tag with it being moved to a secret location when Ontario's Cam Clark, Bob Lovelace and attorneys became so flustered at the Mohawks' asking uncomfortable questions that they fled. When they sought to hide in a restaurant down the street, the Mohawks found them, no problemo. Afterall, they were in Mohawk territory where even the birds speak Mohawk. Mohawk people have tried to help us Algonquins over and over again since the uranium crisis began last June at the Robertsville mine site. Indigenous people all over Turtle Island are renewing their alliances. The Mohawks are our nearest neighbours down-river and long-time allies. They have much wisdom and expertise to share with us. The current issues are different: housing development and uranium mining yet the struggle is the same. The enemy is the same colonial system that seeks to eliminate Ongwehonwe/Nishnaabe people. In mid September, when the Ardoch and Shabot Algonquins and allies were anticipating an invasion, the remaining people at the 6 Nations reclamation were attacked by hundreds of police. Nine men and women were beaten and arrested and now face court cases in January 2008. The Algonquins were very aware of all this when they quickly dismantled their camp three weeks later in an act of good faith prior to mediations called by Judge Cunningham. Then more recently when Mohawk cig shacks were attacked by nonNatives in Caledonia, the Shabot Algonquins quietly closed their cig shack on Highway 7 at Sharbot Lake. The Ardoch and Shabot Algonquin leadership now appear to be putting all their bets into the farcical mediation process that sort of began this past week. It is still not known if the meetings will actually be open or closed to the people. They continue on December 17. Meanwhile, Frontenac Ventures staff are active at the mine site preparing to drill in January. What they are doing out back is not known because no one has been found to monitor their activities. A small contingent of protesters are keeping watch outside the gates. Others are on standby ready to come to the site at any time. THE THREE STOOGES AND AECL Chalk River Laboratories on the Ottawa River at the heart of Algonquin unceded land, is a big nuclear bomb waiting to go off. CRL is tied to the nuclear weapons industry in the US by the medical isotope business. Soldiers at Petawawa are mere grunts while an elite nuclear police force will soon move in. Many Aboriginal partners are now being groomed for their roles in this force organization. Recruits are being actively sought in northern Indigenous communities and even at pow wows where police forces have a high profile presence for that purpose. The OPP's Blue Wolf Drum is a good example of state- financed propaganda. Any Aboriginal OPP (Ontario Provincial Police) can play and travel with the drum to various events throughout the land. Donna Dillman, grandmother and hunger striker against uranium mining in Ontario, has left the Robertsville mine site near Sharbot Lake, Ontario and gone to Toronto. Now, 48 days without solid food, Donna plans to carry her protest to Queens Park, seat of provincial government where she will spend her days until Ontario's Parliament closes for the Christmas holidays OR McGuinty calls for a moratorium. Donna was told she could not camp at Queens Park and would be charged with trespassing if she put up a tent. Donna, inner circle member of Canada's Green Party, was staying in a trailor outside the mine site gates since October 8 when she started her hunger strike. On November 14, Frontenac Ventures George White went screaming into court in Kingston again, demanding that the remaining protesters outside the gate move back 200metres from the gate. George who entertains a lifelong fantasy to mine uranium outside his cottage at Ompah, Ontario, was feeling quite intimidated by the ongoing presence of a handful of grey-haired settler women. He feared for his safety. Donna took her protest to Queens Park where she hopes to gain more attention. She urges everyone to contact McGuinty, MPP's etc to demand a moratorium on uranium exploration and mining in Ontario. The Algonquin Nation declared a moratorium on uranium mining in Algonquin Territory on September 28. Eleven municipalities in this region have passed resolutions in favour of a moratorium on uranium mining. Moratoriums are in place in Nova Scotia and British Columbia where another hunger strike was instrumental. Meanwhile, the Ardoch Shabot Algonquins' victorious departure from the Clarendon encampment may be premature and hollow. Frontenac Ventures is pushing ahead with their non-invasive uranium explorations while mediation isn't going anywhere yet. Or at least, the Algonquins have said it hasn't started while Premier McGuinty has published a letter saying mediations are underway. Most residents, concerned or otherwise, Nishnaabe or not, haven't a clue as to what is going on. This includes many disaffected Algonquins who do not follow the present Ardoch leadership. Activist settlers also have no voice at the mediation table except for a Premier who clearly doesn't listen to them. One thing's for sure, it's a very serious situation. Frontenac Ventures' exploration agenda involves drilling in the 13th week which would be sometime in January if you calculate from mid October. The time of year may actually be ideal for drilling if the ground is frozen. Certainly cold weather will separate the serious protesters from the fair weather variety. Frontenac Ventures always have the option of flying in their drilling equipment which is entirely possible using a large helicopter. Even the exploration drilling can release harmful radioactivity into the air and the watershed. Algonquin people, working diligently to regain rights, sovereignty and culture are being called upon to fulfil monumental responsibilities. As perpetual keepers of Algonquin unceded territory, the land hereabouts, not only do Algonquin people have a responsibility to prevent the desecration of uranium development, we also have within our area a huge and growing quantity of nuclear waste. Atomic Energy Canada Ltd. runs the Chalk River Laboratories at Chalk River, Ontario. The nuclear waste there will be a huge problem for centuries to come. Where will AECL be in 2107 or 2207? The nuclear industry tends to make its mess and its and then leave the cleanup to someone else, usually the Indigenous. Just ask the Navaho people at Tuba City, Arizona, the Ojibwe people at Serpent River (Elliott Lake), the Dene People of Great Bear Lake or the settlers at Port Hope, Ontario or Colonie, New York. It is a sobering thought to consider that Algonquin people will inherit the tons of radioactive and toxic waste at Chalk River. If you live within 200 km of Chalk River, you may be interested to know that a serious nuclear accident there would be of fatal concern to you. Not sure if you're within 200 km of Chalk River? We've looked at a map and drawn a circle to find out. Sharbot Lake and the Robertsville mine site are 150 km from Chalk River, about the same distance as Ottawa at 160 km. Since Chalk River is on the Ottawa River, any escaping radiation would surely get into the river whence it would eventually reach Ottawa and Montreal beyond. Actually there are concerns that underground plumes of radioactive fuel are escaping and moving all the time. There are 16 in total under Sharbot Lake. They stopped September 14. The Algonquin blockade at the encampment came down about October 8 around the same time a settler woman started a hunger srtike. She is now into her second month, somewhere around day 42 without solid food. she is camped at the roadside of the mine site. She goes to Ottawa today to the Premier's riding office. November 18, 2007 We Indigenous recognize freedom of speech and freedom of the press as founding principles in modern democracies. We, Nishnaabe and Ongwehonweh hold Truthfulness as a #1 guiding principle. We tell it the way we see it. Before we get to examining Brian's ballsiness, we'll run through some government documents relevant to the Algonquins' struggle to stop uranium mining exploration and development on unceded Algonquin land. Uranium mining is just the first step in a series of processes where increasing amounts and deadliness of radiation are released into a widening area forever. Opponents of uranium development stand on the front lines against the entire nuclear fuel cycle. ONTARIO'S SNAZZY BROCHURES - The Docs Ontario's Mineral Development Strategy and the June 2006 and Winter 2007 documents on Consultation with Aboriginal Peoples (herein after referred to as the docs) are utterly laughable, not worth the ink and paper they're printed on. Each document is an arrogant piece of prevaricating crap that does not even qualify as sophism. We have to pause and ask, who wrote them and how much did they get paid to produce such drizzle? What were they imbibing while working on them? The Winter 2007 Discussion paper is about consultation and the Crown's duty to consult. The Crown's duty to consult is based in Canada's constitution and confirmed in SCC decisions, Taku River Tlingit First Nation v. Tulsequa Chief Mine Project and Haida Nation v. British Columbia. The Haida case clarified that the province has a duty to consult with First nations at the strategic planning stage. It cannot get more absurd and the docs would be hilarious if the intent and consequences were not so diabolical. While writing about their duty to consult with First Nations and how to do consulting, Ontario is not consulting with the Algonquins. Frontenac Ventures is busy staking claims before, during and after this creative writing exercise unbeknownst to the Algonquins. They learn about it from their settler neighbours. In April, 2007, when Chief Doreen Davis asked Brian Crane, Ontario negotiator for the Algonquin Land Claim, about the mining claims, he said nothing was going on. Chief Doreen was puzzled by this conflicting information. By the time the Ardoch and Shabot Obaadjiwan Algonquins had set up camp at the mine site on June 28, the various Ontario ministries were scrambling to avoid dealing with the Algonquins' letters and invitations to negotiate. Isn't responding to letters and invitations a good way to fulfil a duty to consult? Instead, the situation was allowed to develop into a law enforcement matter, precisely the thing that should not have happened. The Docs reveal their own bias when they provide absolutely no provision for the possibility that Indigenous people will say, No Deal! and that's the end of it. Ontario presumes that mining development will go ahead one way or the other. They are seeking Aboriginal Partners who will get a share in the loot. If things go badly, if adverse impacts are unavoidable, that they are mitigated. We interpret that to mean, no matter the damage to the land and watershed, the project will go ahead. The mining company will leave the mess for the Indigenous to clean up and live with. The government will cover it all up with more lies. That's the mitigation part. The Docs boldly propose eight principles. #3 Consultation should be conducted with the objective of avoiding adverse impacts on asserted or established Aboriginal or treaty rights. Where avoidance is not possible, consultation will be conducted with the goal of mitigating such impacts. According to Ontario, mining is a go no matter what. And #5 Although Aboriginal communities have a right to be consulted...They have no veto over the Crown's decisions which generally rule in favour of industry. It is all about economics and industry's financial interests, clearly expressed in phrases like, MNDM (Ministry of Northern Development Mining) will delegate aspects of project consultation to industry. These resource-grabbing pirates are called industry stakeholders.
