anyone knows how i can tel what mac or ip address connects onto a port on a
cisco 1900 switch?
there's no command line interface only menus

Put your modem on the CONSOLE port, that is what it is there for.

No, you're creating a default route to x.x.x.x. This is not what we're
referring to. We're saying that x.x.x.x has to be reachable before the
router will install your default route.

This has been an entertaining thread, but the way I see it is this. Maybe
the high/low CCIE would work with the headhunters and that is a different
story, but we have interviewed/employed a number of IT guys over the past
couple of months, CCIE's included and to be honest I do not look to the CCIE

We just went thru this issue with a mail server and load balancing
That had default gateway probs with two nics on separate subnets...

In F/R -- split-horizon is disabled on the physical interface, you may need
to enable this on the spokes..

It looks like a job for Class Based Weighted Fair Queueing (CBWFQing).
As you have already put a sniffer on to identify the legitimate traffic
etc it should be no problem to setup.
