I think it has to do with “privacy” and expectations. It’s all great when the
recorded name and greeting is such that you (think you) know who you’re leaving
a message for. But if I call Joe, and Joe has forwarded his phone to Max and
Max’s voicemail picks up and all I hear is “Leave a message
If there was a per user option, who’s preference would take precedence? I think
that’s the issue and why it has to be system wide.

It’s funny we ALWAYS use last redirecting.
I (and my team) find first redirecting confusing as heck. Last redirecting
ensures the VM goes to where we want it. We are most concerned with hunt groups
and such and we use CTI route points at the end of any call flow that is
intended for VM. In theo
We implemented that CXN Service Parameter “Last Redirecting Number” and it’s
working.
Just which something there was a per user solution in CUCM etc.

Yes Global change. It will affect everyone. And possibly other things. It might
be possible to create routing rules to fix things (either way).

That parameter would work but it's global and can break other things. You
could maybe apply a LUA script on the SIP trunk that has the logic for that
exact forwarding scenario...

Ok – I’m _pretty_ sure this is what helps:

There used to be a system wide settings on Unity Connection where you could
decide to either send it to the originating mailbox. Not sure if it was
available in the admin GUI or it needed a cisco unity monkey tool to do it.
Will spend a few minutes looking…

Not that I'm aware of, but there is a sloppy work around.
Go into CUC and change Diane's mailbox to a dummy number, 40019 and then
add x4001 as an alternate on Bobbie's mailbox.
Once the forward is removed, you have to manually go undo it in CUC.
I warned you, sloppy :)

If Jack calls Diane and Diane has call forward all to Bobbie, is there a way
for Jack to hear Bobbie's voicemail and not Diane's?
TAC said no. Ask the expert at Cisco Live said no. is the answer really no?
