OK, back to loving Clementine. Repeat works good and don't mind that it
repeats all playlists - good default. Found the configuration file also -
actually stupid me never really looked for it.
My apologies to any who took offense to my rants.

Whoaaa. This is close, but no cigar.
I add the PL1 as comment field in all the songs in my current playlist.
Create this new smart playlist with search term of the comment field=PL1
gets me a list of all the songs marked; Next
option now is put songs in random order or sort by several choices.

Add a unique identifier as a grouping or comment, so you can build a
smartplaylist from your playlist
Open the playlist, select all > right click > > edit track information >
comment > PL1
new smartplaylist > comment equals PL1
