Hi all,

I am excited to announce that my GSoC proposal to build an Overtone
light weight ide was accepted and I will be spending the summer hacking on
the Overtone sketchpad application! I am extremely grateful to the
Clojure/dev team for the opportunity and psyched to hopefully create a new
tool for overtone and clojure hackers of all skill levels. I have been
hacking with Overtone for a little while now but I am new to the greater
Clojure community so I am very excited to jump into the larger community
with such a cool project. After recently going to Clojure West and hearing
so many inspiring and interesting ways that Clojure is being used I was
more excited and hopeful at the prospect of spending the summer working on
the project so again, I can't say thank you enough to Clojure/dev.

The goal of the project will be to create a light weight
editor environment inspired by the Processing <http://processing.org/> and
Aruduino <http://www.arduino.cc/> editors. Ideally this will provide a
cross platform and ready to go overtone configuration for beginners and
students while also giving experienced users more features specific to
sound design (including incorporating GUI elements which already may exist
in the Overtone project). As the project is in the early stages feedback is
invaluable so please share any thoughts and suggestions. I have started a
new project blog <http://ghostandthemachine.github.com/overtone-sketchpad/>
where
I will be posting project updates, milestones, and more. The project
repo<https://github.com/ghostandthemachine/overtone-sketchpad>is up with a
wiki<https://github.com/ghostandthemachine/overtone-sketchpad/wiki/Suggestions-and-Feature-Requests>page
created for community feedback on features, suggestions, etc.

I also wanted to say a big thanks to Jeff and Sam who have been awesome
through the proposal process and tremendous resources. I look forward to
hearing everyones feedback and can't wait to get hacking!
