John's idea of using a backspace was a a good idea and I should have thought of it. Alas, it doesn''t actually work as Justin pointed out. I got the UUID from /dev/disk/by-uuid and used that in /etc/fstab as Justin proposed. Worked like a charm. I also looked in /dev/disk/by-label and found:

I ran into a multiple same point mount and saw reference to this solution: 1/ as you (ie mwalters) umount smb4k/SOMECOMPUTER/Media/ 2/ as super user (su) umount /home/mwalters/smb4k/SOMECOMPUTER/Media/ No way of really knowing if you were in a similar enough situation, but it worked for me at

While I would like to help, I cannot run it as I have a $dayjob and a hectic schedule. I have some older gear that might be of use (Acer Aspire One - bad SDD but Chromium works fine from USB - HP NetServer LPr, not sure specs). Also an old 15 Dell LCD that works ok (1024x768 res).
