Don't beat yourself up. The boat would have been damaged resting on the
rocks. Maybe not the same damage it suffered, but it would have been
damaged. If it were found with no one aboard, I believe it would have been
deemed abandoned and subject to salvage rights.

Back when Lake Michigan was at low water levels, we got our Redwing 35
stuck in the Black River (South Haven, Michigan) when we wandered out of
the natural river channel. It was just a sand bottom but we were stuck
pretty good and nothing we tried was working. A rather large power boat
Jubillee! Great to see her again. We bought her at a Boy Scout auction in
2008. Solid bones but several years of neglect. Lynn and I cleaned her up.
It was a project boat and we did a bunch. Lynn redid the interior, we kiwi
gripped the deck, I installed the TacTick instruments. I
