Hi Mazen Where in the Bay Area do you keep your boat? I have a C 29-1 which I love. I am based at Paradise Cay near Tiburon. I have done many projects on my boat although I never had rod rigging so never had to worry about that. Feel free to contact me directly for local information etc.

Welcome to the group Mazen. You'll get a lot of information here. There is also a C group on Facebook: C Sailboat Owners Group. Wire forestay is ok with the new furler. Baby stay can also be wire. Keep the rod rigging for the rest of the boat. If you have any concerns, the rigging can be reheaded.

OK to change the fore stay to wire when installing a Harken furler. I removed a Hood Seafoil (twin slot rod) from my boat in 1999 and replaced it with a Harken furler and wire forestay. No issues. Re-head the rest of the rod rigging and keep it rod. Rod rigging generally fails at the head.

I made a few seat bases many years ago for a neighbor, they were simply a SS (or could be aluminum) plate welded to a hexish stub machined to fit into the cockpit coaming Winches. Then a simple plastic seat screwed onto the plate. Not this, but kind of like it.

I added some longitudinal stringers to a 24 foot racer years ago. The owner wanted to strengthen the hull in the aft section. I used preformed foam core stringers like these. https://www.jamestowndistributors.com/userportal/document.do?docId=679 They worked great. Very easy to work with.

That is quite a process. The yard suggested about 20k for that extent of a repair. From what the surveyor sounded out, it seems to be a much smaller sectionof the grid. So to restore as much structural integrity, Iwill have raise the hull off the keel by a few inches on jackstands, replace/

We also used stadium chairs for a while. They worked OK but we took them off the boat for space and weight considerations. Now we use folded beach towels and cushions from the settee and dinette below. On another note, we keep a folding table similar to one of these on board:

We have an older version of the WM low-back seat (it is a bit higher, I think, than what WM sells now, and it does not have the opening at the hinge). We use it all the time. WM used to have a longer back version, as well. It supports your back quite well and it can be used flat, as a cockpit
