Re: Stus-List Replacement Holding Tank - 1982 CC 34
Fred/Bob, Thank you both for the very helpful info on Kracor. I'll contact them. From their catalog, it looks like model 2-81823 might be a direct replacement. Stus-List Self leveling Radar mount
I'm reviewing a couple different types of self-leveling radar mounts for a pole. Seaview and Scanstrut are two that I'm finding. Anyone have experience with either, or yet another brand? Re: Stus-List Replacement Holding Tank - 1982 CC 34
The direct replacement on my 35 was mold 5159 on the same page, model # 2-70824B. Kracor didn't have it in stock and were going to charge me a $200 setup fee plus the cost of the tank plus shipping. For the same money I had a custom tank locally made to that spec and it fits like a glove. I don't know what this is all about but all tanks are made to order--none are stocked. It only takes a couple weeks to make one. I wasn't charged a setup fee when I ordered a replacement for my port water tank. By a custom tank do you mean a welded tank? Stus-List Hot water tank
I'm working my way down my project list and finally got to my hot water tank. The PO just told me that it didn't work. I was getting 120V at the heating element so I checked the element and it was fried. I installed a new element and turned it on for a test. Got hot water after about 10 min, so I went to close everything up. But when I was doing that I touched the pressure relief valve and got a small shock. The green ground wire runs to one of the mouting bolts on the heating element and also to the water tank frame. So that seems ok. I also checked for continuity between the hot and neutral wires and the relief valve or frame and got none. So i'm puzzled. The shock wasn't big, but i definitely felt something. Any ideas??? Re: Stus-List Hot water tank
Put a meter on it and read what kind of voltage you are getting. 110V AC does not generally give little shocks. Re: Stus-List Replacement Holding Tank - 1982 CC 34
I tried the Kracor route as well and it was $7xx with shipping on top, to Canada, it was another $150 or something? Sure, it's a drop in replacement but there are better options, that's pushing 1k. I went to http://www.plastic-mart.com. It was all online but the service was excellent and the tank is great. I think I ended up spending $250, anyway it was far more cost effective and there was no wait. One tip I might have read here is to make a cardboard model to the same dimensions as the tank you'll be fitting. That way you get a really good indication of fit, and whether it'll *fit* through the forward cabin door (in my case the holding tank is under the v-berth). I didn't have much cardboard laying around so I just modelled the edges and that was good enough.
