Rob, I use that stuff on my knotmeter too. Works for a while but I still had to
pull mine twice this season; it was encrusted with barnacles. I sail in St
Margarets Bay.

Had my final sail of the season today - from Deep Cove in Mahone Bay
around to Shining Waters in St. Margaret's Bay -- about 23 NMw
Wind was brisk, gusting maybe a bit above 20kts. First ever solo sail
for me. Went pretty well - except for the big bang when my shackle on

I painted my Raymarine knot meter impeller with Micron CSC, have had
no issues with the transducer...my depth finder transducer is mounted
inside the hull in a puddle of GE silicone sealant..it has .worked
flawlessly for several years but it's limit is reduced to about 200
feet, good enough for my
Used to do it all the time.
Still do it but it is not as good as I am at different dock now.
Spring line attached midships long enough to reach rear cleat on the finger.
Mine is attached through the rail with a shackle. The line is attached to
the shackle with a spring hook for easy removal and

There is a water base antifouling paint made by GDR specifically for the
depth sounder and speed impeller..comes in a small plastic container
(2.3 oz.) with its own brush on the cap. Have used it the past few
seasons.no growth of any kind..got it at the Binnacle..FYI
Fender location is critical to sailboats because of the curved shape. If I tie
to a floating dock, I found I can get away with using two big fenders at max

and keep a round ball handy if I need to protect the bow
Glad I’m not the only one with this issue. My speed impeller stopped
functioning about four weeks ago. I pulled it, and it was crusted up with
barnacles. I cleaned the impeller up and reinserted. Yeah. Speed again. Sure
enough a month later I go out and no speed. I figured I’d be resigned
I had a chance to see a Dock And Go system first hand aboard a friend's boat.
We cruised 10 days thru Holland and docked in many different scenarios aboard a
Beneteau Sense 55.. The owner was very technical and loved the system, though
the bow thruster was sometimes underpowered in the
FWIW, In our area, any boat with a strut has a zinc forward of the cutless
bearing. An engine guy advised me to leave a good 1 inch gap between the zinc
and the bearing to allow for movement caused by engine thrust and to help water
to lubricate the bronze bearing. Full keeled boats or boats
