Has anyone with a CC 35 MkIII CB ever had a problem with rusting keel bolts?

Paul,
I agree with you on the washers. Some of the spacer that CC used were
aluminum wedges to keep the nuts square to the bolts. Mine were all
replaced with stainless. An easy upgrade and well worth it.

David,
O2 Cool makes a 5 battery powered fan I use in my boat. We use it in many
places on board. I bought a few of them over the years and have one at home.
The batteries last a long time. Many times I have left the thing on and it ran
for days before I noticed it was on. I'm sure there are
Judy,
Mine is the deep keel version, but the keel bolts always look like new. No
rust or hints of it.

I finally gave up and put a piece of rubber pipe insulation on mine because I
hit my head so many times on that door frame. Dave

What Jake said. I dropped my keel after worrying about it with 15+ years of
“keel smile”. Although our boat is like Jake’s model and having the full keel,
there was virtually no problem with the keel bolts. The forward one had a small
amount of pitting and the rest of them were like new.

Yeah, that darn doorway keeps banging
We have runners w checkstays on our 34R. They help shape the mainsail and can
add speed in light winds, but as others have reported, they aren't absolutely
required unless the backstay is tensioned heavily. There are several ways to
add bunji retractors to pull these out of the way when not
Have 33-2 with k/cb - no issue with the bolts, but the washers do need to be
replaced with stainless ...

I’ve also noted some rusty areas in the bilges of my previous CC 30 and my
current CC 41 CB. The problem was that CC used steel backing plates and some
steel washers. I removed the original stuff and replaced it with the proper
alloy stainless washers, and in some cases I had custom SS plates

In my new SeaFrost 12-volt refrigeration system, I'm using SeaFrost's widget
fan and it is hard wired to the refrigeration system--when the refrigeration is
turned on, it runs. It draws such low amperage that it is insignificant and it
really helps eliminate temperature zones within the box.
Most of computer fans are 12 V (some are 5 V). Many have adjustable rpm, so
they can be extremely quiet and effective. And they can be very cheap (I mean
low cost), as well. You should not pay more that around $15 (more like $7).
They use a couple of W (depending on the rpm). On the low setting
Hi David,
We are using an early version without switch, something like this:

Hope that helps, Lee

If you don’t want to wire anything up, try the Caframo fan

That's okay, I was going to make the same joke. I save these in case I
bring the boat back to the US and need to argue with the local
government about property taxes.

I have an old, old, AutoHelm 3000 mounted to Pegathy's wheel. I thought it
would barely work when I bought the boat, and that I'd replace it very quickly.
WRONG! It works amazingly well with one exception, large, confused following
seas. Once I balance the boat the 3000 keeps a heading
Mike,
The traveler on most of the 35-3 is found on the cabin top. Some are on the
bridge deck, but I think those are fairly rare. The cabin top location is
nice, as it keeps the main out of the cockpit, but it is not ideal for
managing the loads on the main sail. My pit guy manages the main
My new refrigeration is doing quite well. However I would like to better
circulate air within the box to equalize temps. Trying to avoid hard wiring
and want to know if anyone has found a low amp battery powered fan that I can
turn on when needed without a lot installation hoopla...
Thanks
Glad to hear it Francois. I ordered a switch and will hopefully have it by next
week. In the meantime, this weekend I will take the advice of the others and
will clean all connectors, check engine ground, and solenoid this weekend.
Cheers,
Mike
