Hey Jim,

Good to hear Edge #1 is ready as well!

I'm anchoring out in Blounts Bay. I suspect I'll be the only one there
since there isn't a lot of wind protection. Most boats in Broad Creek
will anchor 100 yards from the docks in the creek. I did it once on the
35MkII and ended up with a bent rudder. Not enough water in the creek
when the wind shifts. You also need to watch for boats that throw out a
lunch hook.

Good luck to you, Rick, & Tex.

Re: Stus-List Storm Florence

2018-09-10 Thread Rick Brass via CnC-List
Mark;

You might want to take a peek into Blount's Creek when you get to the area.

I just sent a boater off the Washington Docks to anchor up in the creek near
Cotton Patch Landing, and he told me that the anchorage near the mouth of
the creek, below the bridge, was entirely open about 6PM today.

The entrance into the creek is narrow and about 16' deep, with a 90 degree
corner into the creek and the anchorage. Once you make the corner into the
creek you should find about 19' with swing room for 3 or 4 boats, and that
part of the creek is almost completely surrounded by hills, trees, and
houses. So little or no wind and waves, just storm surge.

I agree with you about Broad Creek. I find the best spot to anchor is in the
corner across from the country club, tucked into the corner north of the
Plantation docks. Imzadi has rode out 4 storms in that area. But the whole
creek can become a bumper boat event when McCotters clears the boats off
their docks.

Good Luck.

This one is not going to be good. The eye is projected to come inland 10
miles south of our house (living on an island is great 11 months out of
the year). We boarded up today and I told the wife if there is anything
you want to see again, pack it up. We're heading up to Washington NC
tomorrow to anchor the boat out. We're setting the 35lb CQR with 150'
chain and snubber and a 50 lb danforth in the Pamlico River in 12 feet

Most NC storms do a late track to the north which would impact the boat

Take good care of your boat. A wise old friend once told me: "If we lose

Stus-List Need sails

2018-09-10 Thread Len Mitchell via CnC-List
Chuck, we primarily use our slightly heavier #2 for the Great Lakes and furl as
necessary (above 20-25 kms). Believe it’s a 144% sail. A # 3 I find too small
and a # 1 too big. FWIW She will carry lots of sail but the #2 seems like a
good balance even when sailing short handed. Congratulations you will love it.
I don’t have any spare sails and wish I had a lighter #2 sail myself.

Welcome to the 37+ fleet! If you haven’t already discovered, it is both fast
and comfortable.

I have a 37+ and the former owner raced it. He had more sails than you could
imagine. We use the boat for cruising and don’t really need most of the sails.

Here’s a link to the sails that I have including sizes and photos:
https://1drv.ms/f/s!AhpB-lul9d5YgwwnK_wNiF3vMoCA. The one’s crossed out are no
longer available. One was sold (145% jib) and the rest were sent to Bacon
