I have used rotella 15/40 on my 2gm  for past 15 years (yikes)
I figure the multi-grade accommodates the cold hot cold season here in Toronto .

Yanmar recommends straight weight oil and to vary it depending on the season 
and temperature. For temps below 10C 10W or 20W; temps from 10-20C 20W; temps 
from 20-35C 30W or 40W. Rotella is recommended, but Yanmar states "Choose a 
brand with a rating higher than SAE class CC"

I have been using Mobil Delvac 1300 Super 15W-40 in my 3QM30.   

I don’t recall where I read it, but somewhere it was stated that Yanmar which 
recommended SAE30 on older engines changed their recommendation to 15W-40.

I did a ton of homework when I bought my 29-2 with a 2GM20F two years ago and 
have been using Shell Rotella T 10W-30 with no problems.  I run my engine in 
temperature range of -5 to +35 Celsius.  Cheapest source I have found is 
walmart.

I use Rotella 10w-30. It usually comes on sale late September or early October. 
You can set-up Canadian Tire web site to tell you when it happens.
