I found an adult Peregrine Falcon perched on a snag above the Arkansas River
just east of Canon City on Tuesday. As this was across from my friend's
place I was able to drive to a position less than 200 feet away and
partially obscured by a tree which allowed me to watch this bird for an hour

This evening, 9/2, I saw 3, Common Loons swimming on Marston Reservoir. I know
this is not rare but I thought it was a bit early for them to show up. They
were seen from Bow Mar dr. but then they were almost in the middle of the lake.
Happy Birding!

I had what I'm pretty sure is a Rose-breasted Grosbeak in my yard today. It's a
plumage I'm not used to seeing, so If someone wants to persuade me it's a
Rose-breasted/Black-headed hybrid, I would listen. In case others are
interested in seeing what this bird looks like, here's a link with three
Hey everyone,

Well, it looks like our fall migration has slowed for the time being. I went

Walked around Stearns Lake this morning from 8 to 9. There was nothing on
the water except 1 lone Great Blue Heron and a couple of mallards. The water
is still very high; there are small shores for sandpipers along the path
toward the dam end of the lake.
The best sighting was a red-tailed hawk si

Dixon Reservoir’s north end thicket was quite birdy this morning, although
nothing new was apparent. The White-eyed Vireo was still present, but silent. A
Northern Waterthrush continues from last week. The Blue Grosbeak family is
quite evident as the young have now fledged.
