I received several comments from birders about the possibility that Tammy
heard a woodcock rather than a nighthawk and perhaps at dusk if I went to
where she heard the bird I may hear it if it was a woodcock.
We did go back but didn't hear anything similar. I may try again in the
mornin
March 9 - male House Wren arrived at its previous seasons' breeding site, my
backyard. The chickadees are bummed-out and stay away from him
March 10 - Northern Shrike
arrived same place as previous 3 seaons, along the lake in very tall willows

At 7:25 AM today I went over to 4700 Holly Street in Denver, which is
located just north
of I-70 to look for the possible Yellow-eyed Junco reported on Cobirds on
3/9. (At this unlikely site
in an area of light manufacturing and distributing an Ovenbird cowered under
some junipers
and was seen by m
The bird was seen at 4700 Holly, LL Johnson Dist Co. Birders are welcome to
visit but afterhours
the security system motion-detectors will respond to anyone who might
approach the fence. If you keep
to the curb, all should be fine. The system is armed typically by 5pm each
night and all weekend.
I received a phone call from Joe Roller at 0930. He is presently
looking for a possible YEJU reported on Monday at 4700 Holly (just north
of I-70) by Cookie Spatafora. Joe has talked to Cookie to get more
details about her sighting. She saw the bird from a distance of about 5
feet when it came
