I uploaded 2 pics of the Hooded Warbler, found by Thomas Heinrich, that I
photographed yesterday at Temple Grove @ Ft Lyon Canal showing it's
nictitating membrane coming up over it's eye. Since Hooded Warblers have
very distinctive black eyes, the nictitating membrane is quite apparent.

Maggie Boswell just called to report a male Blackburnian Warbler at CU East
Campus. I think it's at the Yellow-throated Warbler spot just west of the
Arapahoe Ave. bridge over Boulder Creek.

This morning a male Blackburnian Warbler was feeding in cottonwood, box elder,
ash and an apple tree at the eastern end of CU's East Campus--the same area
where the Yellow-throated Warbler and Yellow-throated Vireo were found in late
April.

While walking the Skunk Creek trail to join Maggie and David Waltman for the CU
Boulder East Campus Blackburnian Warbler (thanks, Maggie) I noticed a swift
flying over the ponds in the wetlands around the confluence. One in particular
caught my attention because it was bigger than a Barn
While walking my dog this morning at Lathrop State Park...saw a Green Heron at
North Martin Inlet...it flew in the direction of the Wetlands Area...which is
also in the direction of Horseshoe Res. Tried to find it again but was
unsuccessful. In checking my notes...discovered we had seen one 6
Hi:
Goodness gracious I found a rare bird, certainly not my usual modus operandi
One female Hooded Warbler on the Highline canal in Cherry Creek Village

Hello, all--
A little help needed: I'm wondering what are some CObirders' favorite
websites on the Net for downloading birdsong recordings? I need to flesh out
my Nano collection a bit. So many of the recordings on my CDs are limited in
variation, or in locale. There are great places to listen
COBird folks:
There is an path underpass that follows Boulder Creek under Arapahoe between
33rd and Foothills Parkway. A short distance south of that 3 paths converge
and there is a brick-edged flower planter in the middle of these paths. You
can see the underpass. The bird was visible from
Birders,

Olive-sided Flycatcher (got pictures of this
Cloudy and cold changed to partly sunny today. A moderate stream of birds all

At lunchtime I found a pair of Red-eyed Vireos along Boulder Creek on the CU
campus nearest to Folsom Field. After work Tim Smart and I observed an Eastern
Phoebe along Boulder Creek in the tree on the north bank immediately west of
75th St.
I dipped on Green Heron at Walden Ponds, but had a

Thanks to all for responding so nobly to my plea for downloading sites for
birdsong/calls.
The most popular recommendation was the xeno-canto site (which I did not
realize I could copy from); Macaulay is also highly regarded. For
southwestern birds, one idea was azfo.org. I can't wait to try
Birders,
Although I could not relocate the Blackburnian Warbler along Boulder Creek,
there were many other interesting migrants. Bird activity certainly was higher
on the north side of the creek. I saw an immature male SUMMER TANAGER, 1 LEAST
FLYCACHER, 1 vocalizing HAMMOND'S FLYCATCHER, and 2
Hi cobirders. I selected the Sunday field trip hoping it would lead
me to the Black-chinned Sparrow.
But the trip stayed on the main Devil Kitchen route which led up a
series of large stone steps where my
rollater could not go. So stayed back to find birds . The trip did
not find the
