On 9/16 I found a first Fall male Magnolia Warbler Southeast of the
fisherman's parking area at the end of Sharp Point Drive in Fort Collins. It
was associating with two Townsends Warblers and a Wilson's Warbler. To get
to the spot, park in the parking area for fisherman
Four juv. Sabine's Gulls were on Chatfield Reservoir this morning at 7:15am.
Best seen from either handicapped fisherman's access point or from the Marina

I easily found it by scanning from the south end (actually Hobie Heaven
Beach)
at about 8:30 today. It was first in line with the lone volcanic cone north
of the reservoir,
then flew a couple of times, winding up in line with the north side of the
dam.
It is a cute little rascal and is best
All,
After looking at the Red Phalarope at Boulder Res, I went to Baseline Res
just east of Boulder because Steve told me there were two Sanderlings
there. From Cherryvale Road on the west side, there was a first-cycle
Sabine's Gull in addition to the Sanderlings,

You
Cobirders,
It was fairly birdy at Cherry Creek state park today in the strip of Russian
Olives and willows along the shoreline north of the swim beach. Species
included:
Orange-crowned Warblers
Wilson's Warblers
Yellow Warblers
Blackpoll Warbler (found by Randy Lentz)
Yellow-rumped
A well seen juvenile Sanderling at Twin Lakes, Lake County this
morning (9:30am 9-17-2011) might be a new elevation record for the
species. Extreme western end of lake, Moache Landing, observed in
company of a winter Spotted Sandpiper which was obviously slimmer and
smaller than the Sanderling.
Hello, Birders.
The very first bird I laid binoculars on this morning, Saturday, Sept. 17th,
was a Cassin's Kingbird along 115th Street south of Oxford Road, Boulder
County. This is the road into Panama Reservoir. The bird was about 2,000 feet
south of the intersection of Oxford and 115th,
After the light rain this afternoon I visited Chatfield (at Glenn Walbek's
prompting) and found the four Sabine's Gulls from this morning as well as
three more! Total of 7 Sabine's Gulls (6 juvs, 1 adult).

This morning (9/17) the Prothonotary Warbler was east of the wildlife sanctuary
on the north side of Lake Estes in Larimer County. I got some identifiable
photographs of the warbler.

Well, we (as in me) scheduled the DFO trip to Grandview Cemetery in Fort
Collins on the same day as their big Cemetery Stroll event (historical
re-enactments, hook-and-ladder trucks hoisting flags, lots of visitors, etc.).
But that's the way it played out, so we tried anyway. Knowing we

Thought some of you might be interested: We took a trip over to the Acorn
Woodpecker colony at Rafter J subdivision outside Durango and counted at least
nine different birds steadily bringing acorns to the main colony tree.
