I posted on Saturday about a feeding frenzy of warblers (Yellow-rumps and a
few Orange-crowned and Wilson's and a Townsend's) that day. I noticed that
leaves on the cottonwood trees where they were feeding had several
yelllowish blotches on them. When I looked at the leaves closely it

COBirders,
I had a very uncooperative YELLOW-THROATED WARBLER this morning on the Big
Thompson river trail east of Wilson Ave. in Loveland. The bird was high in a
cottonwood with multiple Wilson's, Yellow, Yellow-rumped and Orange-crowned
Warblers. Park on Wilson and take the trail under the
Sorry for the late post. While mapping a prairie dog colony
yesterday, I flushed a bird out of a lovely rabbitbrush stand that the
pdog colony is slowly chewing away and destroying. I saw a flash of
yellow on the undertail coverts and white on the outer tail. The bird
landed close and I got a
Hello, Birders.
Just back from a lunch-break visit to Panama Reservoir, Boulder County, where I
saw a not-too-close Pluvialis plover that I'm pretty sure was an American
Golden-Plover. Never saw it in flight, though, and didn't hear it call. It was
hanging out mainly near the west shore,
I went over to Belmar this afternoon and was able to find the 2 PALM WARBLERS
and the ASH-THROATED FLYCATCHER seen yesterday. The Palm Warblers were both
on the south end of Koontz Lake and the Ash-throated was seen on the north side
of the wetland area. I could not re-find the Blackpoll
While working at Union Res. today I saw one Palm Warbler and heard another
in the trees between the entrance station and the south end of the
reservoir among droves of Yellow-rumped Warblers of both ssp. As Steve
Mlodinow pointed out the water bird variety is good right now and could be
worth
Today was slow and short. Not a lot of birds around, and we shut down early
as it started to drizzle. A big bird day - first time I can remember
having a Blue Jay and Flicker in the hand at the same time. Very noisy
(both of them). Here's the breakdown of the 13 new captures:

Birders,
I had an immature male Ruby-throated Hummingbird at my feeder in Las
Animas today. Birders are welcome to look, as long as they contact me first.
I've been cloistered in my home office finalizing my annual report. I
got a third-hand report today of a Reddish Egret at Lake Hasty
SeEtta et al,
This is very interesting. I collecting some of these, or something very
similar, from Plains Cottonwood about a week ago at Roselawn Cemetery in Fort
Collins. The makers of these pale circles are emerging in a container in my
lab (aka kitchen). Yes, they are leafminers. Many
Folks,
While looking for Palm Warblers at Chatfield I found a sterna tern feeding on
the lake. The bird was seen from the fisherman's pier and seemed to hang out
in the middle of the lake, resting on buoys after dining on small fish (Gizzard
Shad, again?). It was in breeding plumage and
Hi CObirders
I saw an American Dipper in Clear Creek just east of Lowell Blvd (Adams
Co). I looked downstream from the Lowell bridge itself. This is the
location where Dippers nested in the spring. Last fall the first sighting
was on Nov. 12, 2011.

Hi all,
Each year I take it upon myself to see as many species of owls in Colorado as I
can. I aim for 10 species each year. Most years I end up with 9 species or
less. This year, so far I have seen 10 species owls in Colorado.
I was wondering if anyone on this list serve would like to join
In retrospect, maybe I should have stayed home, as the best two species at Crow
Valley Campground at Briggsdale (Weld) I also had today in my east Fort Collins
(Larimer) apartment courtyard: Evening Grosbeak and Red-naped Sapsucker.
Either there is one crazed Evening Grosbeak zooming around
This morning about 10 AM I noticed a long string of Ecodoves (my

top of utility pole
I counted 35 most tightly closed together. Later about 10:30 I saw
