Good Morning All,
No snow (just cold) and no Rosy-Finches at the Red Rocks feeders.
Rick Creswell and I did watch the Golden-crowned and adult White-
crowned Sparrow come out and start feeding just after 7:30 a.m. There
were two Ravens calling back and forth (our nesting pair?) and a
Just had a quick visit to my feeders this morning (8:30am) from the local
Northern Cardinal. This is the fourth visit that I'm aware of since
November 11, the other two being 12/25 and 12/29/12. It headed south along
the Silver Lake Ditch. Good birding,

I saw all 8 Rusty Blackbirds on the Platte on Thursday. They were north of
the Denver Metro Wastewater outflow immediately upstream of the Plum Creek

Our BlackForest count tallied 45 species, 2,202 individual birds.
We had moreobservers than any other count since Dick Beidleman
started it in the 1960’s(or 1950’s). As a result, we put more parties in the
field than ever before (10)– but with a lousy cone crop, we

The doctors and physical therapist told me to start walking; so
I walk. Four months post knee surgery on left knee. Right knee still
needs to be operated on. Will I ever climb a 14er again?
So, a lot of walking today going to many of the best feeding

Yesterday, Jan 11, I headed to Hawthorne Gulch in Boulder for the third
time this year in search of the *Northern Cardinal*. I found him a little
bit up the trail from the first switch back. He was feeding on the ground
in thick cover west of the trail.
I then headed over to Boulder Creek 75th

I have been part of the clan that has been hesitant to post the Fort Collins
Museum of Discovery redpolls on COBIRDS. But, it is time to do so.
Today, there were at least 2 male and one female Hoaries present. Yesterday,
Rachel Hopper photographed a female that was different
I also meant to post that about 3:45 I had two Chihuahuan Ravens fly by my
house. This is not an uncommon occurrence. Last month I have seen them
about this time, always heading east into Longmont. The Common Ravens and
the American Crows always seem to be flying west.

COBirders,
The 21st annual Fountain Creek Regional Park Winter Bird Count was held on
a rather cold morning starting with a sunny 12 degrees F ending with a
cloudy 23 F. Twenty-nine birders covered the roughly 400 acre park between
the hours of 9:00 and 11:00 a.m. with a few other birds seen
Today, we picked through the redpoll hoards at Discovery Museum with
multiple other birders. In the morning, we had a pretty good Hoary
candidate, but the bonus for all in attendance was a flock of 35 Bohemian
Waxwings. They did a few laps around the area before settling into the
cottonwoods for
