During the
first half of the last week of fall banding at Chico Basin Ranch, we banded 160
birds and are headed toward a season record.
Species and daily totals
follow. We have banded 1619 birds of 43 species. We captured our first
Blue-headed Vireo of the season on Monday.
Audubon’s Warble
We had several hummers at our feeder still around September 16-19th. Then
there seemed to be a single hummer every day, mostly morning and evening
visiting the feeder. We are thinking it is a probable ruby-throated.
There were no orangish flanks and a shadow of a chin. It could have been
black-

There are three Sabine's Gulls this morning on Chatfield Reservoir. All were
visible from the swim beach area near the western entrance.

Banding today at Clear Springs Ranch (off I-25 at Exit 123), I had about 15 of
the usual suspects: Wilson's and Orange-crowned Warblers, Lincoln's, Chipping,
and White-crowned Sparrows, and two UNUSUAL ones: a hatch-year TENNESSEE
WARBLER, and a hatch-year RED-EYED VIREO.

After the flood (75' from house and major change of Big Thompson River area habitat) we were happy to see about 5 White-crowned Sparrows and 1 Oregon Junco feeding on the ground with our House Finches and Sparrows this morning. We had been worried about the lack of bird activity around
