I took a rather easy day wandering around the Greely area today. Water it's
number were decent and ring-billed gulls were around in very high numbers but
many winter species, like Herring Gull were difficult to find.
The lower Latham area had thousands of ring-billed gulls between behren's
Deb Callahan reported a Brant at the Monte Vista Refuge today. My wife and I
went down there and saw it as well. It is an adult nigricans phase, and can be
seen at the most southern turnout on the west side on Hwy 15, as it was feeding
in the fields about 60 yards away. One of a few San Luis

Yesterday afternoon while cycling home from getting a haircut I heard a
raven calling me over Edgewater (25th Ames in JeffCo), and looked up to
see 2 birds circling and heading east towards Sloan's Lake. I rode
underneath them along the N. side of Sloan's, when 1 bird disappeared.
When I got
This morning I woke up to a Say's Phoebe calling from my balcony at about
6:20. It's the first time it's happened this year.

large number of gulls roosting for the night on the south end of Boyd
Lake, then spending the day feeding in weedy alfalfa fields just south

A friend (who is not on cobirds) reported that she heard a chat at Isaak Pond
this morning. As she is learning bird calls, she played the call from a
recording, and the chat popped out. It would be a FOS for me if I had
seen/heard it, so it seemed worth reporting. I will also encourage her
Cobirders- the friend who told me she had a chat at Izaak Walton Pond in
Longmont (I did not have the full name when I posted her email the first time)
has deleted it from eBird, based on reports that the bird would be over a month
early. Here is the link to the pond:
David Pettee of Newton, MASS, David Wade of Fort Collins, and I (yet another
David) heard one Boreal Owl at about milepost 64 on SR14 about a half mile on
the Jackson County side of Cameron Pass on the night of 3/15 at about 9:30pm.
The bird was south of the highway, sort of at the nw flank of
