Starting our winter raptor survey in Lafayette, we saw 5 pheasant on the NW
corner of Arapahoe and 119ty st. Provenance? We are wondering if they are wild
or released.

2 Trumpeter Swans
2 Barrow's Goldeneyes (1m, 1f)
3 Long-tailed Ducks (2f, 1m - the male has a small pink bill with black tip
and base and NICE, LONG pale gray scapulars)
6 Greater Scaup (in with about 15 Lesser Scaup)

Longish post, but fun day out birding, so I thought I'd share some stories
(nothing super rare here). Yesterday I decided to explore some new places
in CO, look for some state birds and a couple potential lifers around Canon
City and Pueblo, mostly. Nothing like waiting until it's the dead

I did see the Redpoll this morning but only 1 Rosy-Finch.

The deep freeze has frozen all local lakes, but John Martin Reservoir
(Bent County) remains mostly open, due to the large volume of water
still present following historic floods last spring. I posted following

A beautiful Carolina Wren has been visiting a yard in Lakewood for over a
month now. The homeowners (avid birders themselves) have agreed that they
would like birders to have a chance to see this bird in their yard at 2695
Newland St. The bird is erratic, but today was seen for over an hour in
