*Volunteers Needed at Chico Basin Ranch!*

Each spring and fall we host a bird banding station at the ranch in
partnership with Bird Conservancy of the Rockies. This banding station is
open to the public, and is the cornerstone of our education program,

I just caught and banded a female WWJU in my yard here in Mountain Shadow, NW
Colorado Springs. It was huge, and much more white in the tail than the other
five subspecies I get here, but was actually lacking the white wingbars! Just a
big, gray and white junco!

I did not have in my brain the differentiation factors for Sharpies,
Coopers and Merlins for the 20 seconds before they left.
In studying afterwards I am pretty sure they were Sharpies because the tail
