Hello Fellow Birders,
Yesterday evening, around 7pm, I was driving about 30 mph down a street
in my neighborhood when a Cooper's hawk overtook and passed me, going 35?
- 40? mph at about 3 feet off the ground and parallel to me about 10 feet
to my left. She was flying easily, an
I had a stub-tailed wren in my cinquefoil bush about 3:30 this afternoon.
I watched it for several minutes and listened to it chatter. The chatter
was that of the winter wren, not the Pacific wren!

A slow day today - Basically Wilson's and then woodpeckers. There is a
flock of Flickers (at least a dozen, probably more) moving around at the
far out nets. We caught one yesterday, three today. More to come, I would
guess. Here are the 21 new birds caught today:

Hello Everyone!
We have been banding at Ridgway State Park for the past nine days as part
of an educational program. The season is wrapping up soon, and we would
like to give an end-of-season recap on what we have caught here.
Thus far, 122 birds have been banded and about 700 kids
Folks,
I and others studied the Cherry Creek jaeger for a couple of hours this
afternoon. It never approached very close so observations and photos were of a
distant jaeger. I have attached the link to the ebird checklist containing
photos. Some of the photos are 200 % crop for the sake of
I was able to return to Cherry Creek after a couple of appointments. After seeing and photographing the juvi jaeger, I believe like Joe Roller, it is a Parasitic Jaeger. It has no 'double flash', is warm brown and has a nail about 1/3 the length of the thin bill. Bird is actively chasing gulls.

Good day Ladies and Gentlemen-
While elk hunting in the mountains around grape creek in the SDC's a little
owl no bigger than a canteen swooped in to pay us a visit. Very curious
