I found an adult Kumlien's Gull at the Larimer County Landfill this
afternoon. I was mostly trying to take flight shots of gulls today, so I
was not super vigilant in checking the distant gulls resting on the top of
the landfill but I did not see anything out of the ordinary in my

Well said, Leon. I subscribed to CObirds back in the 1990 (mid to late, if I
recall correctly) and I have enjoyed the postings every day since then. I’m
looking forward to all of the Colorado birding information posted on this list

Great find, Rachel.
I am off to Jay's and once in the haze will think about gyrs. Tomorrow is
Janeal's birthday and her adopted family (the staff at the Chinese Restaurant)
is throwing her a party at 6:30. Hopefully I can get down there by then and
join the fun. Next week we will scout for
Sorry, I may have accidentally double posted my email about the original

I have not seen the bird come back up, or I missed it when it did.
But, I will add to my report that the bird was quite brown & looked very

COBirdsrs,
I just had a GYRFALCON on Hwy 14 just west of RD. 47 in Weld.
The bird flew south along Hwy 14 & then crossed the rd, & flew north into a
field west of 47 & then dove to the ground near Owl Creek. I have not seen it
come back up so I assume it caught prey.
For inquiring minds, this
A gyrfalcon was seen soaring over west central Fort Collins about 2 pm, near
the cemetery. It was very light with definitive black wing tips. Seen by two

I’d like to thank everyone who shared how much they used the RBA and wanted it
to be continued. I received many private messages as well.
Our team will never be as efficient as Joyce, but we shall do our best. We are
also going to try incorporating suggestions many of you offered.

in-the-field experience. When I began birding I relied on it to learn about
counties, locations, likely species to look for, I shaped my routes around

Hi all,
Someone had asked me about something I said on this topic in the other
thread - about being able to get notices from eBird almost right away about
rare birds - so I thought maybe some others may also be unaware and
