This afternoon on the way back from Chicago, I stopped at Last Chance.
When I first arrived it appeared that migration was over, but then I found
a Northern Waterthrush followed by a quick look at a Mourning Warbler.
There was a Mockingbird across the street and then a Veery popped up in

Hi Cobirders
My daughter and I were able to identify a male Broad-tailed Hummingbird
along Clear Creek in Adams Cnty. today. I had heard and seen it yeaterday,
but was unable to get a good enough view to make a sure ID. Today it
perched long enough for me to see the dark gorget, changing to red
Hey, all.
Earlier this cold and misty Thurs. afternoon, May 23, I saw an *osprey*
laboring with a fish it had caught at Waneka Lake, Boulder County. As the
bird flew north toward Baseline Road, it was harassed by both an adult *bald
eagle* and three *red-tailed hawks.* The osprey dropped the

For the record, a citizen in Monument, CO, had been trying to figure-out this
stealthy visitor to their backyard for a few days starting late last week
(their words re stealthy behavior). They are just east of Monument Creek in
Monument (north of water treatment plant). They
Hi all:
To my eyes, Roger Linfield's Silverton owl is a Flamm. The small ear tufts,
the brown racing stripe on the scapulars, and the brown tones to the face all
point in that direction. However, I have to say that I was convinced that it
was a Flamm before I saw the photo, as there are no
Hello all,
Yesterday (May 22) I saw abut 525 Red-necked Phalaropes at various sites in
Weld County, as follows: about 30 at Crom Lake (Weld Co. 31 south of 90, near
Pierce); about 50 at Cozzens Lake (Rd. 72 east of 39, near Eaton); about 150 at
a pond on Rd. 61 just south of 74; about 75 on
It was a cold and grey morning, and we opened only part of the station for

COBirders,
Red-necked Phalaropes continue to outnumber Wilson's Phalaropes at Lagerman
Reservoir this afternoon. In addition, the Cassin's Kingbird found by Luke
Pheneger is still in the area west of the parking lot. There were 12+
Spotted Sandpipers, three Semipalmated Sandpipers, a Dowitcher sp.
Still present as of 3:40. Seen briefly and calling often. Very skulky.

Thirty-four species of birds around my yard in west Centennial (Arapahoe)
today. Half a dozen Western Tanagers, a trio of Lazuli Buntings, and a
baker's dozen of White Pelicans were highlights. Two of the three buntings
were new arrivals; both were males, joining a female who arrived yesterday.
Hooded Warbler continues in same location.

Hey COBirders,
Another cool, damp, perfect morning for migrants at Clear Spring Ranch today.
No rarities, but lotsa birds. Visitors said they observed continuing large
numbers of Swainson’s Thrush and Audubon’s Warblers on the walk in, but those
avoided my nets mostly. Ciopping Sparrows - one
May 23,
Upon opening I was faced with a very birdy morning, having over 30 birds by
700 and banding by myself, I shut my nets to efficiently process them. In
total today I banded 46 birds of 20 species:
Wilson's Warbler: 1
Least Flycatcher: 3
Western Flycatcher: 1
MacGillivray's Warbler: 2
Even more lark buntings have appeared; there must be over 50 at the Rock Creek
Open Space/Stearn’s Lake.

There was a flock of about 30 lark buntings, pretty much equal numbers of males
and females. They seemed to be picking seeds from cow pies in the fields on
both sides of the entrance road south of Dillon Road.
