We added two new year birds on this morning's walk.First, a Ruby-crowned
Kinglet that drew our attention by singing off and on. What a great sound.
Then, a couple of Violet-green Swallows skimming insects off the surface of
the local pond.

While out yesterday (Weds., 26 Apr.'23) scouting for a field trip this
weekend, we found a singing male NORTHERN PARULA and a continuing pair of
EASTEN PHEOBEs along the Highline Canal at Platte Canyon Reservoir (Douglas
Co.) near Waterton. The Parula has apparently been there for a couple of
Walked west up the Poudre this evening from 35th Ave (Greeley). The first
lake just had an immature bald eagle, a pelican, and a few d-c cormorants.
Beyond that, I was lots of lesser scaup, northern Shovelers and Gadwalls.
Also saw pelicans, cormorants, Pied-billed and western grebes, Avocets
