The pattern of Week One continued today, with the same early migrants
dominating - House Wrens, Yellow-rumped Warblers, and Lincoln's Sparrows.

This is my first report on spring banding at Chatfield – We started banding
on Tuesday, April 25; this report covers our first week. I’ll be reporting

Spring has arrived, or at least some spring birds have. Yesterday we counted 4
Blue-gray Gnatcatchers in our gully.
Last night, Urling heard a Poorwill - wish I had better ears.Today, a Western
Tanager and a Black-headed Grosbeak, both striking males.20 Chipping Sparrows

There were slightly different birds in the tree/shrub area around the
banding station today. Thirteen species banded with a total of 45
individuals. First of the spring was Orange-crowned Warbler, Common
Yellowthroat, Cooper's Hawk, Clay-colored Sparrow, and Spotted Towhee. The

As I hadn't seen a post here yet, thought I'd drop a line about a singing
male NORTHERN PARULA found this morning (Tues., 2 May'23) by Eric Dinkel at
Overland Park (SW Denver, Denver Co.). I bumped into Eric who had also
found a Palm Warbler, but we couldn't relocate this bird. Was pretty birdy

This bird is in the NE corner and is on full BASIC plumage.
