I was up at Centennial Cone Park 5 or 6 weeks ago and one of the volunteer
park guides passed me and my on-leash dog while we were walking in. After
telling him I was birding and specifically looking for Dusky Grouse, he
said there were 2 dead "grouse" in the middle of the trail about a 1/4 mile

Reporting today on both Friday and Saturday activity. With the weather
change we are catching more sparrows, especially White-crowneds - We might
finally have a species that comes through in numbers approaching normal.
(We will see.about 2 weeks to go..) Had a lovely White-throated

It started off pretty slow this week at Connected lakes. Monday we weren't
able to open our nets due to rain and Tuesday and Wednesday we only caught
3 birds. But it really picked up on Thursday with 5 new birds!

afternoon Sandhills were calling on both sides of the valley. Pretty neat

This morning I had a lovely time birding one of my favorite locations in
Jefferson County, Belmar Park. Not a ton of song birds, but it was fun to
see some new waterfowl moving about.
The park was having their annual cider fest and there were some folks
sharing news about *pot
Today starting at about 10 am, there were three groups of sandhill cranes at
North Shields Ponds, each about 15 minutes apart. The first group had about
100-120. The second group was about 40-50. The third group had about 130-150.
Each group would break apart above us and then regroup, going

building on Thursday, in the vicinity of 52nd and Zuni, North Denver, Adams
