There has been a good deal written on COBIRDS about Red-breasted
Nuthatches in the Metro area this year. There is interest, fascination, and
maybe some surprise at their presence? I have them practically daily at my
house this time of year.

Yesterday a number of us explored the Rampart Range in Douglas County
and Teller County. We traveled from Hwy. 67 above Sedalia, south on the
Rampart Range Road, to Woodland Park.

COBIRDERS, This afternoon we had a very wet Buteo sitting in our cottonwood tree during the snow storm. I have some poor photos through glass and leaves and would appreciate any help anyone can give me. We live just west of the Denver Tech Center in Centennial. I think this bird is a light phase B
COBIRDERS,
The young sapsucker was back in our backyard this afternoon feeding on
the suet in the feeder. It quickly flew off to the south toward Palos Verde
which is south of Orchard Road and east of Holly in Centennial.

COBIRDERS, We had a young sapsucker in our backyard this afternoon. It quickly flew off north toward Orchard Road just west of Quebec. I think it is an approx. 10 month old female Yellow-bellied Sapsucker. Please tell me if I am correct or if it is a Red-naped Sapsucker.Thanks much! ChrisChris
The Bald Eagle pair has returned to Marston Reservoir (north side of
reservoir off of South Pierce Street) for the new breeding season. Lynn
Willcockson photographed them on January 28th. Their behavior today may
indicate the female is already on eggs.

grazing flock of geese at Harlow Park, Belleview Ave. and Lowell Blvd.,
Littleton, Arapahoe Country (just east of Bow Mar). This bird is normal size,

A friend from Cape May wants to see Himalayan Snowcocks in the Ruby Mountains
of Nevada (easier than traveling to the Himalayas). Does anyone know a quality
bird guide who knows this area and leads trips to the Ruby Mountains please?

This afternoon I found a Green Heron in a small pond just outside of
Bailey in Park County. The bird was fishing in a shallow pond from at least
2:00 - 4:00 p.m.
At the bottom of Crow Hill (Hwy. 285) turn left, or east on County Road
68 or the Wellington Lake Road.
Wellington Lake (160+ acres) is located at 8,000 feet in Pike National
Forest 11 miles S.E. of Bailey on C.R. 68/Wellington Lake Road. Some people
are familiar with The Castle, the impressive Pikes Peak granite spire just west
of the lake. Some years Peregrine Falcons nest on The Castl

"About 20 minutes ago I witnessed a Crow attack a Grackle and kill it.
The Grackle was hopping around on the ground and the Crow flew down on top of

A week or so ago I was watching the Bald Eagle's nest at East 120th
Avenue and E-470. One adult was sitting on the nest and the other was near by.
However, there were also at least a half dozen House Sparrows on and around
the eagle’s nest the whole time I was watching. I a
