While we were visiting the Barr Lake banding station on Sept. 21, Meredith
brought in a female/juvenile black-chinned hummingbird that had gotten tangled
in the mist nets.What an experience, to see this tiny bird close up! Just

we usually see 1 male and 4 or 5 females. They come to drink and bathe in the

Statement for the Chatfield Reallocation Project is coming up on Sept. 6. The
project, if carried out, would eliminate someof the richest bird habitat in the
State, the riparian forests and wetlands along 0.7 miles of
